I liked it a lot.

I didn't really like Emma herself at first. There was a lot of talk about her kindness and all I could think was 'really?' She's very judgmental and superior in a way that rubbed me wrong. But by the end I really liked her. I loved her offering Harriet that if she thought Knightley was interested in her he probably was even as she was still reeling from the realisation that she loved him herself, and then later her following Knightley to offer to listen as a friend to anything he had to say.

I loved Emma/Knightley. They were a delight from start to finish. I love how every scene with Knightley practically drips with how much he loves Emma and his unrequited love for her and attendant longing was so perfectly done. I love that he sees all of Emma's faults and loves her no less for them. I love how he tries to encourage her towards being better/kinder. The whole section at the ball was excellent. Loved their quiet moment together where she thanks him for dancing with Harriet and then their intense dance together was so great. I loved their walking fight over Harriet turning down Mr. Martin's proposal. I loved the proposal/confession scene. "If I loved you less then I might be able to talk about it more." is such a great line.

Liked this exchange between them where she's complaining about Jane and says "she who's so accomplished and superior" and he replies "she is certainly accomplished".

Mr. Knightley was great. I loved his defensive rant to Emma about Miss Bates and him stepping up to save Harriet at the dance. He's clearly a very kind person.

In a similar way to Emma herself Emma and Harriet's friendship didn't work for me for a good chunk. It come off very much as Emma seeing Harriet as a project more than a person, certainly not a friend, and thus she felt very condescending. And actually I think that is how it was in the beginning and it was seeing the change in how Emma saw Harriet that made me like them. I loved Emma's smile when Knightley saved Harriet from Elton's snub. Their relationship after the ball was great and I bought their care for each other.

The casting was great. Johnny Flynn and Anya Taylor-Joy were very enjoyable to watch and the supporting cast was all good. I really loved Tanya Reynolds as Mrs. Elton.

I liked the parallel between Knightley being jealous of Emma's supposed love of Frank Churchill and Emma unexpectedly finding herself jealous of Knightley's supposed interest in Jane Fairfax, and the fact that neither of them were actually interested in their supposed paramours and then Frank and Jane were revealed to be engaged the entire time. I found the whole situation fun.

Liked the Westons and their relationships with Emma a lot.

The short exchange in the rain between Harriet and Mr. Martin was a great little moment that really sold their love for each other and the pain they were in.

The film was very pretty, lovely costumes, and I loved how colourful and vibrant it was.
