The Blacklist 7x17 Thoughts

+ "I knew you would do the right thing." UHHH!! What. Also: "You're the kind of agent people join the FBI to become." ...Really? Like really really? I mean Ressler has rose-coloured glasses about Liz but has he not been paying attention at all? Liz has become the kind of person you call if you need help hiding a body (or breaking into somewhere or stealing something or even killing someone) not a person married to the law in any way. Dude. She's a great person to have in your corner if you need help but she probably shouldn't even be an agent at this point.
All that said I don't think she was wrong to cover for them. There would be no positive consequences to turning the two of them in and I agree that Ressler was being kind of an knucklehead for planning to do it. Murder is obviously wrong but this is The Blacklist and it happens every episode. Our main cast kill people all the freaking time. The brothers killed the man who murdered their father, a crooked cop, and neither of them are criminals now. Plus you know Reddington would think it had been justice and Liz has become very morally similar to Red over the series.
So I really liked that Liz not only flew out to Detroit and had Ressler's back but that she had it twice, and saved him from himself. I loved her cleaning up Ressler's mess as it were and how it was yet another allusion to how similar she's become to Red.
+ "Yeah, you have my permission to be a total dipstick." Hee. I love how completely unapologetic she is over it.
+ I like Ressler as Liz's "tiny island of calm". That final scene between them was really sweet. I loved him hugging her and reassuring him that nothing will happen to her on his watch. But please, please show do not go in a romantic direction with them! Please! I can feel it building and I'm not here for it.
+ "a marionette... with a high-functioning sociopath pulling my strings" Hmmm. I always like hearing from Liz on how she sees her and Red's relationship and I love the contrast from this and her anger about his secret keeping and the many issues she has with him against the fact that she genuinely does love him, and even likes him as a person. It's a really great tension that I wish the show would do better at showing. Anyway this was great and as was her pause after the first word. She is clearly feeling very done with Red and his shit right now and, I mean, after finally thinking she has answers to find out she was completely lied to again? I can see why she is so frustrated.
+ I really loved Liz's entire speech at the end about how much of a 'FEMA disaster' her life is and how the horrible things never seem to end, threatening to drown her. It was a really nice look into Liz's POV and I wish we'd gotten this a little earlier.
+ I liked that among everything Liz brought up that Katarina pretended to be her neighbour which implies that a part of her is in fact upset still with that deception, which she should be, and I wish we'd seen more of it.
+ I appreciated that Liz shot Mitko and saved Robbie rather then the obvious choice of having Ressler save his brother (like he once saved him.)
+ I can't believe that we didn't see Red at all this episode. A first for the show. It's weird.
