iaria2x03 'Alma Mater'
+ "Why would you do something so despicable?" – Malcolm to Martin LOL. This made me laugh so hard. I do get where Malcolm's coming from here because he grew up certain that his father loved him and would never purposefully hurt him. Whenever he thinks he's wrong it's rather devastating to him on a personal level. That makes sense. Just in the wider context of his dad being an infamous serial killer it makes this line so funny.
+ "Because you are the one person I can not hurt." - Martin Nice scenes between the two of them this episode. I liked that when Malcolm was lashing out Martin was clearly hurt but he didn't lash back. I also liked Martin being flabbergasted by Malcolm apologising to him and then enjoying the experience (and then Malcolm not letting him have the moment, ha.)
+ I’m offended for Ainsley that in Martin’s triumphant return home she wasn’t even there. She murdered a man! She got a “my girl”! Poor Ainsley, always the forgotten child.
+ I enjoyed Gil scolding Malcolm at the end. Gil's expression at Malcolm's tentative "All in a days work." was hilarious.
+ If Martin hurts Mr. David I am going to be very irate with him!
2x04 'Take Your Father to Work Day'
+ I loved Jessica figuring out the truth. From becoming suspicious (to the point she called Martin) to tearing apart the room to such a degree that she found one drop of blood on a book to realising that Malcolm was covering for Ainsley it was great how quickly she unravelled Malcolm's cover-up based entirely on how well she knows her family and her own intelligence. I really loved that moment during her call with Martin where he ends with "apples don't fall that far from the tree", and despite him having literally seconds before allayed her fears, you can tell from her look that she was now certain she'd been right.
+ Gil and Martin interacting is fun and it needs to happen more often.
+ Edrisa fangirling Martin and getting along with him so well should have been appalling but was mostly hilarious.
+ That end sequence showdown with Ronda and how it played out was rather meh. Something about it felt meh.
+ Ainsley simply leaving the room - regardless of Malcolm's tip/accusation, or actually especially because of it - made no sense. It was definitely the writers needing her out of the way and writing it regardless of whether it made character sense.
+ Malcolm getting Dr. Marsh to show his keycard in front of the inmates was dumb and irresponsible.
+ Ainsley climbing into bed with her mom after a nightmare, and the way the easiness of that scene implied it wasn't the first time, was sweet to me. I hope Jessica's new knowledge doesn't cause too much strife in their relationship. I don't doubt that Jessica will always love and support Ainsley and will remain in her corner but I don't want there to be a crack in their relationship.
