What Happened at Fox Ridge

I enjoyed this.

+ I LOVE Ji Ah. I love how clever, quick-thinking, and observant she is. I love that she never takes things at face value but notices the details that belie the truth. Little Ji Ah noticing the change in her parents, the spot of blood on her sweater and the broken gift and deciding that actually maybe her scary dream was true and then testing it with the cookies was pretty amazing. Her secretly grabbing the scissors and actually stabbing her 'mother' was amazing. I love that she managed to save herself. There were so many moment where she was great - noticing the details on the wedding dress, noticing the lie in Rang's story, helping the old man, throwing her bag at Yeon to get his fingerprints, the whole set up at her house (from inviting Soo Yeong as bait, to setting up the cameras, to figuring out that Soo Yeong isn't what she says and holding the glass to her neck and then stabbing Rang), and then at the end getting Yeon close so she could drug him. It was so great.

Ji Ah dropping off the edge of the balcony in the trust that Yeon would catch her though was kind of insane. I mean sure he's clearly a supernatural creature who can move fast but that doesn't mean he can fly! Surely, there could have been an easier way to get him close enough to drug? Although her bringing Soo Yeong, who she's already figured out is probably fake, to her home as bait to get Yeon to follow was also pretty foolish. What is he hadn't shown up so soon after she left? All that said I love that she takes crazy risks to reach her goal so I'd be fine if she keeps this up.

If the rest of the series follows this path she might end up one of my favourite heroines.

+ I do love Yeon's unwavering devotion to Ah Eum. He gave up his godhood to make sure she'd reincarnate, it's been six hundred years of him toiling away in a task he hates, and it's obvious how the centuries and his failure to find her again has been weighing on him. But while he is continually saying that love is the worst when Taluipa offers to burn his contract he can't reject it fast enough.

I'm assuming that Ji Ah is Ah Eum despite her seemingly failing his test as a child, unless this show is going in a very unexpected direction, so them starting with such a contentious relationship in this life is very much something I am here for. I am curious why the test failed if she is Ah Eum. Also Rang's interest in her is suspicious.

+ I liked the reveal that Yeon's memory trick didn't work on her. Does this mean it didn't when she was a child? It would explain her interest in the supernatural but the clippings in her room indicated to me that she didn't remember and was still searching for the truth. But maybe she knows what happened for why and what? If so I'm surprised that when she first saw Yeon she didn't immediately chase after him.

+ I like Rang and find his relationship with Yeon very intriguing.

+ Yeon trying to blow out Taluipa's fox fire was amusing.

+ I'm curious about the old man. Was he a part of Rang's plan or was he interfering in it?

+ I like that for all that Yeon's demeanour and words were unsympathetic and unmoved he did try and call his bosses about the bride, that he gave her the chance to run and when he killed her he agreed to erase her fiance's memories.

+ Does the Afterlife Immigration Office do scene cleanup? Because otherwise the cops should have noticed that was something wrong at the house, even without the bodies. And erasing Ji Ah's memory probably wouldn't work as well if she suddenly found her house trashed.
