The Dragon King's Secret

Good episode.

+ I loved that seeing Ji Ah about to die in front of him just as Ah Eum did caused Yeon to finally unleash some of his power. It felt rather momentous and made me wonder if it's been gone from his reach since he gave up being a god. Seeing his tail was neat but I loved him calling the rain/wind so he could wash away the primrose line and then the so casual way he called lightning down on the shaman.

+ I liked Yeon pausing to heal the tree and I loved how that came into play later when he asked/demanded the forest's help and it answered him with wind and fireflies.

+ I am so intrigued about what went down with Rang and Yeon. I think it's clear that Rang loved and hero-worshipped his big brother but everything came to head with Yeon trying to kill him? All I can think is that Rang had something to do with Ah Eum's death. Possibly he made it possible for her to be possessed by the Imugi (?) out of jealousy? So Yeon strikes him down. Yeah, I can see how that could lead to this current hateful and pained obsession with his brother. I actually feel for him when he said that the scar on his heart is bigger.

Plus Rang brings up that he's a fox and he has to pay Yeon back properly. We've seen from Yeon that paying debts is important to gumiho. Him saying that he and Yeon would go to hell together honestly felt like another cry from a man who just wants his brother back in his life.

+ The Ji Ah/Rang scene was great. I love their verbal sparring and how they bounce off each other. I love that she refuses to be intimidated by him and that he seems to kind of like that. I loved that she knew it was him very quickly and that she'd figured out that he was using the fishermen deaths as a smokescreen for a bigger plan. I loved him trying to tempt her into a bargain and her not falling for it because she knows how favours from foxes work.

+ I liked that Ji Ah was clever enough to not drink the tea but got caught because it was actually the scent.

+ I liked that Ji Ah fought back against the shaman enough to survive until Yeon could rescue her.

+ I loved Yeon's little smirk at Ji Ah after he saved her from the rock shower.

+ Yeon saying he didn't want to save the other fishermen because it was a hassle and none of his business and also he didn't like their faces - LOL.

+ I hadn't even considered the idea of cannibalism until Ji Ah was told all four for the fishermen had been out at sea together when the father disappeared. I mean I figured that they'd killed him but I thought when the shaman said her father's body had arrived back to the island first it meant Ji Ah and Yeon were going to discover it in the cave.

+ Super curious about what the shaman meant by “You lured your own mother from the womb." Did Ji Ah in the womb send her mother the dreams? What were the dreams of and what about them brought the two of them to that specific island. The fact that this used to be Yeon's domain probably isn't a coincidence. I still feel like the cave is hiding something important. Was something left behind? Could Ah Eum have called her new parents to the island before she was reborn to... do something? Could it have something to do with why Yeon can't find the pearl within Ji Ah?
