The Drowned Woman

Man, that end was a wild ride of emotions. I was shocked when it looked like the show was actually going to kill George off. This isn't supposed to be that sort of show and I was all ready to be really mad about it. And then Nancy did something impulsive (and selfish) and stole something that didn't belong to her and made it all better ♥. I love how this is both her one of her greatest strengths and her weaknesses.

Very glad that George is alive, needless to say, and I am very excited about the potential consequences for her going forward. Is she attuned to just Odette or is it any ghost? Can she be possessed? I hope her mom returns so their relationship in light of this can be explored more.

I really liked that it was George - who got the blood bucket as a separate thing from the Aglaeca - who died.

I loved Nancy refusing to accept George's death, her collapsing crying over George's body when she thinks it didn't work and then her basically lying down on George in a tight hug when she came back. Lovely Nancy/George moment.

I loved that when Nancy ran in with a piece of cloth and acted like it might bring George back from the dead the others were like "... sure" and Bess started praying "please".

I am pleased that in the end they defeated the Aglaeca not by killing or trapping her but finding a way to free her. Using Odette's letters to remind her of her humanity and of love worked for me, though I wish Nancy getting the truth out/justice for Odette had also been a part of the solution.

I liked Ace stepping in to back Bess when Nick stepped in for George. "You can't snap a resnap. George snapped first." Aww.

Nancy having Ace's back over why he was hacking the government was nice.

So there was some Aglaeca magic happening with that fight, right? Because that felt very forced on them. Though Nick letting some anger out at Nancy about their relationship was probably good for him. There are clearly some unresolved issues still.

I'm really not down with everyone blaming Nancy for the curse. Sure it was for her but they all agreed to it! They all fought to be a part of Nancy's shenanigans. You don't get to do that and then blame her when it blows up in your face! That said - Nancy inadvertently letting all those evil things out of their vaults is totally her fault and I hope we get to see her mentally struggle with it when facing whatever consequences there are. But not the others blaming her - unless she gets to throw "so you think I should have let George die" back at them instead of accepting the blame silently.

What we saw of Carson and Ryan was great. I loved Carson being all appalled at Everett's parenting and offering Ryan some parenting books. I really loved the little throw-away off-screen moment of Carson and Ryan agreeing that it's not weird to keep a vacuum in your car ("I keep a dust buster just in case"). It was hilarious.

I do love that Nancy saved herself by climbing back up the cliff but at the same time it was deeply weird to me that we didn't get Carson and Ryan working together to save her. What the heck was up with that? We had them following her out of worry and this is the cliff where she was born and Lucy died. It's only appropriate for them to save her here together! I am bewildered by the choice to not have that happen. They set it up to happen like that!

The Nancy/Carson scene was very nice.

WHY did they all go to the place they knew they were supposed to be killed at? At least make the Aglaeca work for it! Was the thinking that at least then they'd know what the danger was and where it was coming from? But in that case there was still so much stupid happening. Nancy standing that close to the edge was dumb. At least stand back more than a step. Ace going into the freezer was dumb. Force her to push you in or swing the hook out, there was no reason to go in. Nick and George sitting in the truck also seemed dumb because why assume the Aglaeca would actually appear in that tiny space? Instead of outside the truck. But I was wrong so fine.

I did love that Nick cut an escape hatch into the roof. That was great thinking! I wish we'd gotten something like that from the others - Nancy was wearing climbing gear, Bess had a fire extinguisher, Ace... okay, not sure what would help him. But them making an attempt too would have been much better.

All I could think when Bess stayed at the house was getting Nancy's house burned down is probably not the best way to repay her kindness. Was there anything specific about her vision that said it was Nancy's fireplace? Go hang out in front of a fireplace at the Marvin estate!

Why weren't the others more worried about Nancy's fate after they first 'defeated' the Aglaeca? They apparently weren't able to get in contact of her on the phone so why were they just casually hanging out at the Claw? Shouldn't they be panicked or even talking about her or planning to go look for her? It felt wrong. Just have it so they got ahold of her on the phone if they weren't going to make it a big deal.

"I already am. Right here." - Bess. Awww. But also not a surprise since she barely has a relationship with the Marvins.

I felt for Bess when George wouldn't hug her. Any of the others would have! I'm not sure how I feel about it. Yes, that is very George but also they all think they only have a couple hours left to live so would she really refuse George a comforting hug after being told they're her family? I don't know that I buy it. George cares a great deal for Bess and she's spent the last season learning to open up more. At least Bess got some hugs later - her and Nancy in each others arms when facing the Aglaeca and Ace holding her when George died.

They were all being very naive at the end. At the very least you'd think they'd be worried/wary of George coming back to life via magical shroud and the possible effects of that.
