Prodigal Son 2x08 Thoughts

Martin and Hoxley's petty sniping was so very fun and I wanted more of it. I loved Martin's cold anger and protectiveness too.
Martin's frustration when Malcolm refused to let the courier die amused me.
The resolution of Endicott's murder was a little easy. I was definitely expecting it to be drawn out more. That said, while Hoxley seems to have accepted Natalie as the murderer, and him publishing a new book on it gives him a reason not to look further into the Whitly family, I do think it's likely this will come up again. Hoxley is very observant and was very locked onto the Whitly's as the murderers and a part of me doesn't think he's let go of that. He got this expression when Malcolm started to apologise at the end that left me expecting him to follow 'no, I'm sorry' with 'you didn't kill him, did you'. It felt like he'd just had a revelation.
I was disappointed that the show had Natalie choose certain death over taking Malcolm's hand because it felt like them giving Malcolm an easy out. If they're going to have him make the moral choice of trying to save her then he should also have to live with the consequences of that.
I have no idea what the show is doing with Dr. Capshaw or where they're going with this. Is she going to aid Martin in escaping? Is she one of those people fascinated by serial killers? Is she a family member of one of his victims and is trying to luring him close so she can kill him?
I loved Dani's 'no' when Hoxley tried to kiss her hand in greeting.
I wish we'd had a quick moment with Malcolm explaining how he a) knew Natalie was the killer, and b) how he knew she was after Hoxley, and c) how he knew where Hoxley was. These are threads that are left hanging and I can't believe that none of the detectives or Hoxley wouldn't ask about it.
I'm sad that we didn't get a real face off between Hoxley and Ainsley. We got one with every other member of the family and considering she's the one who actually murdered Endicott it feels like a strange exclusion. I was really interested to see how Ainsley's cold confidence would handle against Hoxley's poking. Honestly that's an issue I've been having for the entirety of the season - the lack of focus on Ainsley and what's happening in her head. I was so excited to delve into that after last season and it's disappointing that the show keeps sidestepping it.
I can't believe that Malcolm checked the phone in his apartment. Even if he was certain he could recover the number and destroy it before it pinged a signal that was a completely unnecessary risk when he could have literally done it anywhere else.
