Exit Strategy

+ I am so intrigued about what exactly is going on with Martin's escape. The implication that there is something more going on than just an escape is very tantalising. I wasn't expecting it. He escaped for the family and he actively wants Malcolm to find him. Interesting.

+ "I'm not who I used to be. I'm not a killer anymore. ... It's not about murder, it's about family." I buy the first sentence because everyone changes. I 100% don't buy the second, it is so obviously a lie. But I am willing to buy the final sentence and I can't wait to see what it's about. Is this something to do with Ainsley?

+ "It's the key to my heart. You've had it all along." Hee. Such a dick. At the same time he still calls her Jessie and when he introduces her it's still as "my wife". I think he does still have feelings for her and I kind of like that. I enjoy them a lot and their scene this episode was a delight. See:

"Go on, cough it up. Or I will choke that secret out of you."
"Well that sounds like fun."

"I can tell when you're lying."
"Not historically."

+ I love that Jessica immediately figured out that Martin had a secret and that upon seeing the rats she very quickly understood that he was going to try and escape.

+ I love that Gil tells Jessica to find a weapon and she ends up holding her high heels and using them to save herself (with a scream of horror just as loud as the man she just stabbed.) I love her.

+ I wonder why Malcolm chose now to go on a serial killer/Martin cleanse? I don't remember him doing anything particularly terrible or annoying to Malcolm in the last couple episodes so it feels rather random.

+ I loved Gil and Dani answering JT's "who still has a land-line" with "I have" and "Old people" simultaneously and Gil's reaction to that.

+ I liked that Malcolm spent most of the episode bonding with Gerard and his understanding and kindness towards him.

+ Poor Dr. Capshaw. I've spent basically all her episodes confused about what exactly she was about. This episode finally solidified that she's someone who once had a huge thing for Martin, found herself failing at her life goals and has glomped onto Martin and what he used to represent to her. Possibly with a side of finding the whole serial killer situation a turn on. I'm curious where the character is going to go from here. I actually do believe that Martin was regretful about doing this to her and was enjoying their time together but is she going to believe that? I still really don't understand her well so I'm not sure if she's going to help Martin or if she's going to go full vengeance mode. She probably feels like a dumbass for believing in him and this will likely end her career so you'd think it'd be obvious but idk.

+ You really have to wonder about this facility. Where the hell were all the guards? How did Jessica end up wandering the halls alone, locked in? Why weren't there guards in the infirmary helping Dr. Capshaw with the overcrowding of poisoned rats? I feel like there needed to be something more to the escape attempt other than the poisoning - like starting a fire on the other side of the building or using their cards to somehow open a bunch of cells and start a riot - anything to explain the random lack of guards in that corner of the building. Or are we supposed to assume most of the guards got poisoned? Because if so they needed to show that. As is they're looking very incompetent.
