I enjoyed it.

- It made me cry when I got to the page where she starkly mentions her sister’s death – “She died instantly”. I’m not even sure why it got to me so much but it did. I actually knew about her sister’s death but I’d forgotten until it was suddenly there on the page. Maybe it was because Allie didn’t go to Thanksgiving and Christmas and thus never got to see her sister one last time? Maybe it was just the pages and pages of drawings of her and her sister and the loss you could feel in them. We got pieces of that later in the book when she mused on missed opportunities to be friends with her sister as children.

+ On the other hand, her story about her sister and her sister’s friend Becky and their deeply weird friendship was hilarious and it made me laugh to tears.

+ Also really funny: the neighbour Richard story where she kept sneaking into his house and her fight with ex-husband Duncan.

+ On the other side the final chapter about making a friend of herself didn’t really land with me and pile dog wasn’t really funny certainly nowhere near her other dog stories.

+ I liked the story about the neighbour kid but it ended not as interesting as the build up implied. The kid and Allie talking on her porch while she tripped balls felt – unfinished. After months of stalking and it simply ends there? I guess I felt like it needed another story. Did it end there? Did she have a friend for life? Was she asked to see the girl's room again?
