Nancy Drew 2x16 Thoughts

+ Even if it's probably a bad choice overall for Nancy's mental well-being I freaking loved everything about that final scene. I loved how calm and resolute Nancy was, especially in comparison to how terrified and lost she was in her previous one. I loved her choice to take Everett down herself. Her telling him that he needed to worry about her and tasering him was super satisfying. And her enlisting Gil's help was great. Of course he would absolutely do it as this season has proved.
+ Celia's death really shocked me. Great twist. Everett is obviously a bad guy but torturing and murdering his wife because he suspects she's keeping a secret? That seems a bit far. If he did do it this makes me look at Celia and her unwavering support of him and her fear of getting on his bad side sit differently now.
+ I'm actually sad that Celia is gone. I wanted to see more of her and Nancy building a relationship. I really liked that little moment when Nancy was breaking down in fear and grief and Celia apologizes and tries to calm her before disappearing and Nancy brokenly begging her grandmother 'please don't go' was heartbreaking.
+ I'm really not a fan of Nancy losing yet another female family member.
+ I was surprised that Celia didn't give Nancy some important information, like where the tape was, before disappearing. I was expecting a last redemptive effort to protect her new granddaughter - after all what kind of grandmother would she be if she didn't? Although I guess her visits to Nancy during the day where she warned Nancy Everett knows, even though she remembered nothing, could count as her attempting as hard as she could to protect Nancy. And the fact that Everett was clearly surprised by Nancy revealing that she was his granddaughter means that even while being tortured Celia didn't give up Nancy to him. That's pretty impressive.
... Actually that's a little suspicious. Hmm. I wonder what other secret Celia was keeping from Everett and if instead that's what got her killed? He was absolutely surprised by the granddaughter reveal. Wouldn't that be a twist - what if Nancy jumped the gun and Everett didn't kill Celia and there's something else going on? Celia didn't confirm he killed her after all.
Plus Everett having Celia murdered immediately after having murder charges dropped against him seems like such a terrible idea. Even for someone with a short rage fuse. And leaving her body hanging there for a day after her death, in a place not far or well hidden from where he's about to have a huge 'beat the murder charges' party?
The more I think about it the more I'm starting to think that Everett might actually not have anything to do with Celia's murder. We haven't heard about The Road Back much lately but they seem like something that should be coming into play in the finale. Could Celia have been tangled up in them? I thought that Everett was probably a member - could this be a inner power struggle in The Road Back?
Or... you know, the way Celia said "oh god, I made such a mistake with the list' was kind of strange. In the theme of Nancy jumping to conclusions what if Celia wasn't talking about the guest list but rather the witness list Grant's mom hid and Nancy traded for Ace's life? Last we heard was that Celia had the list and then nothing else. What if Celia tried to use the list in some way - to blackmail The Road Back or otherwise use it as leverage?
+ I'm having a hard time with the others*, led by Nick, shutting Nancy out and seeming to genuinely believe she could side with Everett and thus that she wasn't trustworthy. Wtf? I can get being worried about Nancy right now and where her current choices could lead her but only as far as her being in danger, not as far as siding with Everett. Them working on a case and shutting her out is just frustrating. This is Nancy's greatest strength. That is who she is and they all know that!
* Though I guess the others of the 'inner circle' weren't really as involved and seemed to have taken a step back from the whole Nancy vs Nick conflict. Neither Ace or George really interact with Nancy and Bess was very quick to tell Nancy anything. So it's mostly - wtf, Nick?
+ Nancy going off on them was so well deserved, and I think they believed that too based on how they took it. The fact that she called all three of their phones should have been enough to at least pick up! For me her ripping into them was cathartic because I was just as annoyed and frustrated at them as Nancy.
+ I've enjoyed this weird little Nick/Ryan team-up but it annoyed me this episode that Ryan went along with Nick's distrust of Nancy so easily.
+ Aww to George being such a good friend to Bess. They've come so far. I loved the profile George and Odette wrote for Bess. It was really lovely.
+ Sending Valentina off by herself seems like a terrible idea, so does Ryan staying to fight.
+ I was really surprised when Nancy didn't call Gil in at the jail - she has her own Bobbsey twin! She ended up not actually needing to talk to their father but it didn't even appear to occur to her as an option.
