Undertaking

+ "You're the strangest person I've ever met. That's why you're the person I trust." Aww, Amalia/Penance as sweetly wonderful as always. I loved them imitating each other. I loved them sharing chips and commiserating over Lucy's betrayal. I loved the way Penance looked at Amalia when they heard the message in Mary's song.

+ I love that in the end Amalia let Lucy live because of Penance. That Penance affected both women so much that she changed a confrontation that could have ended tragically to one where both walked away.

+ I'm sad that Lucy was the spy. Her reaction when Mary was murdered and at the funeral showed that she was devastated and didn't know it was going to happen. I don't think that she would have told if she knew. I hope that she eventually gets a redemption.

+ Amalia's rant was so revealing without actually giving concrete answers. I've been assuming the ship was aliens because obviously but Amalia's rant has changed that for me. New theory - time travel from a dystopic or apocalyptic future. So there's a war in the future, a war that humanity is losing or has lost (against aliens?), and the ship was sent into the past to create the Touched and prepare humanity for the coming fight to save the Earth.

This part is where it really came together for me: "Where a woman can be killed just for having a voice. Which will be the world's fucking epitaph if I can't do something other than make it worse." That really feels to me a person from a place where woman are treated differently and the way she said 'the world' feels like it's her world.

Based on the rest of the rant I'm guessing she was lower in the hierarchy. Not one of the main players, not a leader. She has no idea what to do, "no orders, no objectives". But she got left in London, the only one as far as she's aware which in turn leaves the fate of Earth and humanity in her hands. Meanwhile based on her words to Lucy it seems like the plan didn't actually play out how it was supposed to, leaving her at an even further disadvantage.

... yeah, I think her attitude is very understandable.

+ I loved Amalia's reaction to the message for her. Excellent acting there. I loved the overwhelming relief. She has been so very bitter about the fact that she was left completely alone with this impossible mission that was never meant to be hers. She says that they left her and 'fucked right off' which implies that she thinks the ship left rather than crashed. Knowing that's not true, that she wasn't abandoned, that the weight isn't entirely on her as well as finally having a concrete mission in front of her is a whole lot of good in one short message.

+ Is the person speaking through Mary to Amalia the ship itself or another person? Fingers crossed for the former personally.

+ This makes me more sure that the 'Amalia' we know isn't the one who threw herself into the river. Did 'Molly' die that night and Amalia took over her body? Are they sharing a body? Did their two consciousnesses merge into one?

+ Based on Penance's lack of reaction to the rant she definitely knows the truth about Amalia possibly the entire truth. Based on Horatio calling her a soldier I still think he knows most or all of her story too. It's interesting that Amalia called Lucy a person she could 'lean on instead of protecting' and yet she doesn't appear to have told her as much as she has the other two. I wonder why she kept her in the dark despite being a part of her inner circle? I wonder if knowing the truth would have helped Lucy deal with her anger, grief and self-loathing?

+ While Amalia's rant worked fine as it was I think it would have worked better if it had been her letting loose at Lucy during their confrontation. I think it would have fit better as a slowly simmering explosion that's let loose by Lucy's betrayal and disdain.

+ Maladie's capture happened suspiciously easily. She says in her cell that 'this wasn't the plan'. If Amalia is actually a different being who took over 'Molly's' body could Maladie also have a different presence in her body? If both 'Sarah' and a future/alien consciousness are sharing a body I could see why that could explain some of Maladie's craziness.

+ Myrtle jumping excitedly into Primrose's arms was very cute.

+ I loved Amalia's little laugh when Horatio said his 'don't do anything rash' was aimed at Penance.

+ I loved Primrose and Harriet bringing together others in order to help decode Myrtle's words.
