Hanged

+ The choice to jump from the end of the last episode to a month later didn't really work for me. We didn't seem to miss any massive plot points but there still felt like a big disconnect between the episodes. What did Amalia tell everyone about the message? Did she explain to them what the 'Galanthi' was or are they still in the dark with us? How did they find it? There are a bunch of story beats that were skipped over.

+ I guess the moral of this tale is that they're better off as a team rather than divided?

+ I knew Maladie's capture was too easy. The fact that she was actually Effie this whole time was a neat twist. I wonder what her plan here actually is? I liked that we got an answer from the pilot about who the woman in the mines was.

+ Maladie saving Harriet was interesting. Was it because Harriet was a part of the group that tried to save her, because Harriet is Touched, or just a random moment of compassion showing that there's more to her than it seems?

+ I'm glad that even at logger heads with neither of them willing to back down it doesn’t actually affect Amalia and Penance's relationship. Their disagreement/fight was good. I loved that Amalia sent Su Ping back to join Penance's team with the orders to 'take care of her'. I loved their exchange over the x-ray and Penance being once again annoyed at Amalia naming her invention. Poor Penance, this is the problem with having a maybe-time travelling best friend.

+ Penance seemed unhappy when she overheard Amalia having sex and then pleased when she thought it was Desiree. It was an interesting little scene and I'm not sure how we were supposed to take it.

+ I appreciate that Amalia trying to forbidding Penance from enacting her plan ('I can't let you') got quickly shot down by Penance and Amalia gave in instead of actually trying to stop her.

+ This exchange was great:

Penance: I haven’t killed and eaten a dozen fierce men.
Amalia: I also... haven’t.

LOL.

+ Augie sidling behind George made me LOL.

+ I liked the Augie/Penance scene and I loved his utter relief when Amalia showed up.

+ I quite like Nimble Jack. His training scene with Bonnie was great and I loved him choosing to go where Annie goes until Penance offers to pay him and then his immediate turn around.

+ I liked the lunch scene between Lavinia and Augie. The gently teasing was lovely and it was nice to see another side to Lavinia.

+ Penance plan to save Maladie honestly seemed pretty badly thought out to me. Doing it in front of everyone, so obviously, seems - bad? Like, what reaction did she expect from not just the citizen's of London (the answer is mob) but also the Queen/parliment/police? I can't see how this would go well. Meanwhile, of course people would shoot at Nimble Jack - how did they not see that coming? Why wouldn't they have someone providing cover? I just don't get this plan. I actually do agree that Maladie was being hanged for being Touched and that's not good but the long term affects of this seemed like they'd obviously bad for the Orphanage and the Touched as a whole.

+ The choice to start the episode with Amalia and Horatio continuing their affair left me meh. I wish we could have seen the moment it began again, and why, over jumping straight into them together again.

+ I'd like to see more of Su Ping Lim. She was the first to join Amalia's side (and very decisively at that), she returned at Amalia's orders seemingly okay with that, and then stayed focused on her real mission (protect Penance). Is she that personally loyal to Amalia?
