Life Turned Her That Way
Demon Waverly was definitely not the direction I thought this season was going in and came out of nowhere for me but it's definitely interesting. I liked bringing Jolene back as the cause. I love that the main weapon Jolene used was Wynonna and Waverly's love and guilt. I love that it was Wynonna's maybe death that sent Waverly over the edge. I loved demon Waverly's look.
"Waverly is priority one. Always." As always Wynonna's unwavering focus on protecting Waverly above all else is delightful to me. That said, during the first rescue attempt even I found it a little much. She could hear something happening to Nicole and Casey but almost 100% of her focus was on Waverly. She didn't want to pull them back when the rope was signalled to do so because she wasn't sure they had Waverly. But I guess her overwhelming guilt over their fight pushed it up a notch even for her.
I loved the panic in Wynonna's voice when she screamed for Nicole after Casey's body was pulled out.
I liked the show using Rachel as a contrast against Wynonna. First with her seeing Remy as an actual person and her compassion for him and then her caring more about the others and her reaction to Casey's death. It did an effective job of highlighting how this life has caused Wynonna to change and close herself off. I really like that Rachel isn't judgmental about it and in fact emphathises with Wynonna. I like where this (and the intervention) implies where the story is going with Wynonna though unfortunately with the cancellation we won't actually get to see it.
Rachel telling Wynonna "you're my family" made me aww. Wynonna bitterly saying no she's not, and she should be glad because no one wants to be an Earp made me want to smack her upside the head. Yeesh, Wynonna, read the bloody room! Poor Rachel
"Well, if marrying my sister was legal I'd have done it already, so check your privilege." LOL, oh, Wynonna.
I loved Rachel and Casey stepping back when Wynonna and Nicole began arguing on who got to go save Waverly.
Aw, Doc was so sad when Wynonna chose to save Jeremy. Even though he clearly knew that she was going to choose him it really looked like he was still hoping she'd choose him.
I loved Wynonna's focus on Doc and her apologising and assuring him that she would save him. But I would have liked even a little acknowledgement of Jeremy. After she chose Cleo instead she didn't look away from Doc once. Would it have killed her to give Jeremy a short look and apology/reassurance too?
Wynonna's idea actually was clever but why the hell would she ever believe or trust Cleo? It wasn't like Cleo couldn't easily betray her.
Oh man, I really hope Mercedes isn't dead! She is such a delight and it would be terrible.
Wynonna had a point that Waverly also killed a human Clanton and on that level they are even. That said they were totally different situations wherein Mama Clanton was evil and actively trying to kill Nicole and the whole Earp family (and killed her own son) and Holt Clanton accepted a truce and was peacefully walking away.
