Resting Devil Face
I really enjoyed this episode.
+ God/Lucifer were a delight. Watching Lucifer's increasing exasperation and frustration in dealing with him amused me so much. If Dan was in a better place I'm sure he'd particularly find it hilarious. But what I loved best was Lucifer's increasing concern for his father over the course of the episode. I loved his expression when he realised his dad was afraid and his immediate rage when his (helpless) father was smacked across the face. I liked how his rant at his dad at the end was entirely motivated by his worry for him.
+ God seeing Lucifer's devil face in person, while he's human, really shook him. It seems like that was what was needed for him to finally realise that Lucifer was genuinely messed up inside and that he had a role in that.
+ "Lucifer looks right up at me 'I'm going to start a rebellion'. Adorable." - God. I found this moment and Lucifer's reaction to God's proud dad story so great.
+ I've been enjoying God a lot. He's fun both in himself and in how people react around him. I loved how excited he was when he told Chloe he had made himself human and just how much he joy he takes in life.
+ Holy crap to God blowing up Dan. At first I assumed that he took the memory/rewound time when he made Dan alive again but then it became clear that Dan remembered and yikes. Poor Dan. That's pretty horrifying. Do the rest of the people there remember too? And of course big question: did he mean to blow Dan up or was it a loss of powers?
+ God is very affable at the end and says all the right things about being glad that the Goddess found happiness and that he was a bad husband but also he squeezed Dan's hand till he exploded and has been all around intimidating in every interaction with him, which frankly comes off as childish, and belays his words. Him letting Dan remember being exploded felt on purpose and that's just ridiculously dickish and passive-aggressive. Then again maybe it wasn't but the fact that based on previous behaviour it could be on purpose does not say good things. This is my least favourite thing about this God storyline.
+ I feel so bad for Dan and I just want nice things for him. A horrible thing happened to him this episode, on top of him spiralling in general over the whole Lucifer/God reveal, and he had no one there for him and it really bothers me! He's theoretically surrounded by people who are friends and care about them and yet not one of them is there for him. Maze making it worse is very her and considering the place she's in right now fine. Lucifer is very self-centred so of course he wouldn't think any further on it (and to be fair does have other things on his mind.) But would it kill the show to give him something. I liked the little Chloe/Dan scene but I wanted it to be about Dan not Trixie. I guess part of the issue is Dan not reaching out to others when he really needs to and I don't care who it is (Chloe, Amenadiel, Linda, Ella) but I wish the show would look at Dan's worries/trauma seriously again.
+ Lucifer bringing out a box of pills for the doctor to pursue was hilarious.
+ I love that Trixie is mad about Lucifer leaving without saying goodbye to her and her knowing that something about him is also making her mom sad makes me think some of her anger might be about that too.
+ The Trixie/God scene was really nice.
+ The whole the opening Lucifer/Amenadiel/God scene was great. Seeing how Amenadiel reacts to God - laughing and being genuinely amused by his jokes, unquestionably taking his word - explains so much.
+ Amenadiel trusting Maze with his helpless father made me sigh so hard. Just... seriously? I mean she deserved that trust in the end but what a risk to take and it's a little annoying because he doesn't actually seem to consider that she could be a threat even though she recently just teamed up with Michael, and also she's a demon mad at God.
+ Ella jump hugging God because she was so delighted to meet Lucifer's dad was great. Can she please learn the truth this season?
+ Lucifer's offended: "My hair is majestic and you know it." - LOL.
+ Chloe threatening calling the suspect's mom to get her to talk amused me.
