A Chance at a Happy Ending

God!Lucifer is a scary thought and he seems to think so too at the end, heh. No idea how this show is going to end. I have a hard time seeing Lucifer staying as God. I did like that it was Lucifer's selflessness in sacrificing his own life so that Chloe could live/return to Earth that was what seems to have made him God.

I love that Maze melted one of her blades to give Chloe bullets so she could be armed in the final battle. That's brilliant. That Maze would sacrifice one of her blades for Chloe, that she thought of a way that Chloe could be an effective part of the battle using the skills she already had, that she assumed going in that Chloe would be a part of the fight. Everything about it worked for me. A+.

I have a real problem with how few angels we see. Are we really supposed to believe that's all there is? I realise why there are so few angels on screen but it's weird that there are so few of them and it bugs me. Having the showdown in the coliseum only made it more obvious at how not epic it all felt. Yeah, even if there had been more there couldn't have been thousands but I don't know... maybe they needed to imply that these were simply the leaders and there were thousands of angels in heaven? Make it explicit that those in the coliseum, both angel and demon, are more representations of a greater truth? In any case this specific aspect of them didn't work for me.

I also find it strange that Lucifer having Amenadiel backing him in addition to Michael killing Remiel didn't inspire more angels to side with him, and stranger that this doesn't get effectively addressed. Perhaps the other angels think Amenadiel having a child with a human and choosing to stay on Earth over becoming God prove that he's gone wrong/has been corrupted. Perhaps other angels are deeply uncomfortable/upset about Remiel's death but are afraid/hate Lucifer more. Or have Michael point out that Lucifer has also kill one of their siblings.

Lee being in heaven because he listened to Lucifer and managed to face his guilt was a great kind-of twist. I think it has a lot of implication for where the show is going to go in the future with hell and heaven. It being possible to get out of hell is a good thing. That Lucifer helped make it happen is great.

I love that it's Chloe who steps up to remove the necklace from the sword but I'm curious about it being her instead of say Amenadiel. Is it because she's human that it had to be her?

I like Chloe using her detective skills to figure out that Remiel wasn't killed by a flaming sword.

"It's for love ... of all things." Ha, I knew Zadkiel would switch. I love how he phrased this and how 'of all things' can be read two ways 'love of all things' and 'love, of all things' and how it feels like Zadkiel protecting Lucifer. Also I like that the first time Lucifer was hurt Zadkiel immediately wanted to jump in to help him.

I liked the look Maze went with for the battle at the end. I loved that Eve was right there by her side. The two of them making up was great and the flirting was cute.

I'm surprised that Lucifer didn't give Lilith's immortality ring to Chloe after he accepted that she would be in the final confrontation.

I loved Maze's disappointment and frustration that they wouldn't be going in to kill and destroy the opposition.

I liked the opening scene of Maze struggling with her grief and Linda and Amenadiel talking her through it.

All I want from next season is for Ella to learn the truth. She was so close! I guess in a way it makes sense that the true believe would be the last to learn the truth. She was so close this episode, and while her emu guess amused me, I'd love if she'd come back to that feather, or some other piece of evidence, and work it out herself.

Michael stabbing Chloe with the last piece of the Tree of Life feels like it should be important but doesn't seem to have been.

It bothered me a tiny bit that an enraged Chloe got in Michael's face about killing 'the man she loved' when Michael also schemed to have Dan, the father of her daughter and her friend, killed. I would have loved if she'd followed up 'man I loved' with something about Dan.

What actually does happen to angels when they're killed? Is this something we ever learned?

Michael actually seemed a little affected by killing Chloe and in the face of Lucifer's grief for Chloe. But then he doubled down on his assholishness but perhaps there is a possibility of a second chance for him.
