A Quiet Place 2
Aug. 27th, 2021 10:50 pmI really liked it. Excellent sequel.
+ I loved how separating the characters lend to inter-cutting between the storylines in some really great ways. There were a lot of cuts from one group to the other that I really liked. The final scene with the two kids using the hearing aid noise against the aliens and then killing them was excellent.
+ I loved the scene where Evelyn and the kids arrive at Emmett's - the ways things go wrong, how they work together, Emmett watching it all through the score of his gun.
+ Regan was wonderful. I loved her determination and bravery. I loved her refusing to back down at people telling her she can't do it. I loved how much the movie centred on her.
+ As with the first visually the movie is so great and wonderfully directed.
+ I liked the opening flashback scene to Day 1.
+ I ended up really liking Emmett/Regan and how she changed him and gave him hope.
+ I was a little disappointed when Emmett went after Regan because I would have loved a mother/daughter road trip to save the world more, but I understand why that couldn't happen (the baby needs Evelyn to survive, for example).
+ I liked how hopeful the end was.
+ The visual of the family leaving their safe sand path to venture into the unknown was great but then I ended up getting mentally distracted about why it ended there specifically. It was in a completely random spot. It's not the end of that path or at a crossroads or at the end of the forest or any spot with an obvious reason to stop. So why there? Did they run out of sand? This is a ridiculous thing to get hung up on but I did regardless.
