Lost 6x12 Review

• We actually got an long-standing (season 1!) question answered unequivocally – the ‘whispers’ occasionally heard are the dead who are stuck on the Island and can’t move on, and there’s the implication that it’s the people who’ve done wrong/evil things in their lives that it happens to (or so according to Michael). I really like this explanation because it makes sense and works with what we’ve seen. That is a lot of dead people stuck on the Island though.
• All the Hugo/Libby stuff was really adorable. So we have Libby, who died on the Island like Charlie, getting flashes of her life in the other timeline but unlike him she didn’t need a near death experience to do so – why did she start to remember? I have to wonder if there is a history of insanity in her family because it appears as soon as she got her first flash she went and checked herself into Santa Rosa.
• I’ve never really loved Michael and have in fact spent more time disliking him then liking him but I was happy to see him.
• Hurley proves what a wonderful person he is in this episode in all his interactions with Michael but especially with his very sincere “Is there anything I can do to help you?” Oh, Hurley.
• I liked Des encouraging Hurley and him watching Hurley and Libby connect as Hurley remembered was actually really sweet and made me go ‘aw, Desmond’.
• I guess I was expecting how he approached Hurley/Libby to be how Desmond would deal with everyone else – gently helping the others to remember when and how he could – and then *bam* he runs Locke down with his car. Geez, he could have at least tried talking to Locke first! I’m hoping that this is leading to Locke going under Jack’s knife and getting the use of his legs back.
• I wish that Ben had called Locke ‘John’, as he always does in the other universe.
• I wonder if sideways Des is aware of what’s happening to him on the Island? Despite being pushed into the well I’m pretty sure he’s not dead.
• I am curious about why Not!Locke apparently decided there was a problem with Desmond when Des said he was John Locke. He did not look pleased then though I don’t know if he was decided on Des’s fate until Des stated his ‘why be afraid’ line.
• I can’t believe they blew up Ilana. I really liked her, especially after that one scene with Ben, and it just really sucked.
• The Jack/Hurley scene was really nice.
• So clearly Locke is going to be remember the other timeline which has me wondering if it’s going to give him some connection to Smokey? Does Smokey wearing Locke’s form give Locke a connection to him?
• Who is that little boy? I was figuring that only Not!Locke and the Candidates could see him but now Desmond can too – so does that mean that perhaps Des is a last minute Candidate too?
