For All Time. Always.

Hmmm.

To be honest I was underwhelmed. It didn't really feel like a season finale and as a cliffhanger it mostly left me meh. There was just so much exposition and not a lot really happened for most of the episode. This series is supposed to lead into Dr. Strange, I believe, and this episode feels like it. As if it was more set-up for the next stage of the MCU and less to satisfactorily wrap up season 1 of Loki.

+ I enjoyed the Loki/Sylvie showdown a lot. Mostly everything about how that situation played out between them I liked. The fight itself was great. I loved that we got Loki thinking about consequences and wanting to step back and think before acting. I love how that put Loki in Thor's usual place of trying to talk down an enraged feral Loki so that was a fun twist. I really love how in sync they were for most the episode, how their bodies moved together, mirroring each other, only for them to end mentally in such different places. That was excellent.

I loved Sylvie distract kissing Loki and then sending him out of her way. How Loki stated he was the one who can't be trusted and she was the one to turn on him. But at the same time it reminded me a lot of the Renslayer/Mobius confrontation and Renslayer stating he betrayed her first and that fit very well here too. Sylvie has had one mission her entire life, her Glorious Purpose, and that was to take down the TVA and whoever was behind them. That has never changed. Loki joined her mission, and Loki turned against that mission (for good reasons but still), and I really can't blame her for kicking him out so she could complete it. I mean she didn't even stab him first! (She should have stabbed him.)

+ "I don't want a throne... I just want you to be okay." This line didn't entirely work for me. I get the point of it and that he's trying to reach Sylvie but... starting it with the first line made me expect Loki to finish it with revealing what he (thinks) he really wants in life and then instead it became about Sylvie (and their relationship). I just wanted it to be about Loki! And him making some realisations about himself.

+ "We made a terrible mistake." This line I did like. I love that Loki isn't angry at Sylvie. He's not blaming her. They are still a team in his mind. He told her that he understood and he really does, and I love how this is going to be another step in his journey of understanding and accepting himself.

+ I like the journey Loki went on this series. I like where he's ended it - mostly. There's just something that leaves me feeling vaguely dissatisfied about him/his arc but I can't quite put my finger on it. Part is that I miss Loki's edge. I want him to be a trickster god! But the rest - eh, idk. Overall I do love how far he's come in such a short time... actually that might be it? He's come so far in such a very short time and the show feels like it skipped past too much of that development. This was Avengers 1 Loki and even with everything that happened and he learned from the TVA to go from that to where he was at the end of the season is - a lot.

+ I liked the actor for He Who Remains. He made the character a lot more interesting then he should have been considering his role of Exposition. I found the character fairly fun and interesting overall.

+ I liked the Mobius/Renslayer scene a lot. Her accusing him of betraying her first was great and I can understand why she'd feel like that. I loved him attacking her and failing hard. I loved that they do clearly still really care about each other and regret what's happened.

+ I loved the look of the Citadel.

+ I liked that Loki actually did look tempted by Miss Minutes promises.

+ I liked Miss Minutes showing up at the beginning to try and tempt Loki and Sylvie, and the reveal she's been working for the big bad all along.

+ I liked the directing this episode.

+ I am curious about why Mobius and B-15 don't remember Loki. It's not just that they don't remember him specifically, they don't even recognise him as a Loki. Even Mobius! I do find this very interesting. Is there more than one TVA now and Loki ended up in a universe without Lokis? I'm excited to see how that all plays out in season 2.

+ He Who Remains seemed pretty okay with being murdered which makes me think both options were wrong and what Loki and Sylvie should have been doing was looking for the third option.

+ I got the sense from some of the things that He Who Remains said and his final wink "see you soon" that he thinks the multiverse will happen, things will play out the same way again, and in the end a version of him will be right back in the same place --- and that this is Marvel lying ground for the future where if this whole multiverse thing gets to be too much they can simply erase it and go back to the Sacred Timeline and start it all over.

+ Considering what happened on Lamentis and what a huge spike it caused I was surprised that the kiss didn't result in something spectacular.

+ I've been confused about how we can have Variants so different from the Sacred timeline version (Hiddles!Loki) when the TVA supposedly prunes them fairly quickly. I figured maybe the whole thing was a cover and the TVA's purpose was really to hide the multiverse. But apparently not. So I'm once again questioning how Alligator!Loki/Boastful!Loki/Sylvie all got to the age they did if any divergent timeline is immediately cut off?

Unless - it felt the the show was conflating timelines and the multiverse so I was a little confused about that too but what if they are two separate things? The Sacred Timeline is actually one universe that He Who Remains cut off from all other universes and created the TVA to maintain that separation by cutting off any timeline splits. So the universes pruned were branching timelines but there is also a multiverse out there wildly different, perhaps beyond the red line? Has a timeline ever hit the red line before and that's where, say, Lokigator came from?
