Nancy Drew 3x02 Thoughts

+ I continue to find the Nancy and her two dads story to be one of the most interesting on the show. I love all three relationships and watching them try to navigate things with each other. Ryan joining the family was such a great decision. Nancy's "night dads" made me very happy.
I liked the contrast between Carson's anxiety-caused obsessiveness vs Ryan's attempt to be the cool chill dad. I thought Carson seemed a little overboard but then he did just learn that he was kept out of the loop again and Nancy almost died, again, very recently so I guess it makes sense. I loved Ryan trying to talk Carson down, the two thumbs up amused me. I loved Ryan correcting Carson's 'my daughter' to "our daughter is safe". I liked their fight outside the house and them coming together at the end to confront Nancy.
I liked Ryan trying so desperately to be the cool dad for Nancy but that he also got to be mad with her for using him. I loved his confession that "I've got nothing to offer her."
+ It seems pretty clear that the show couldn't get Detective Tamura's actor back this season so they brought in a new actor/character to take over the role he was to play in the storyline and probable romance with Nancy. I wasn't sure about them doing it this way but after this episode I'm sold. I really like how Agent Park respects Nancy and what she does right from the beginning. He researched her instead of ignoring her accomplishments, he finds her impressive, he's willing to take her advice, he was actively supportive of her after she screwed up. It's a very different dynamic for her to be in with an authority figure. And you can see how it throws her in their interactions. I loved him thanking her for her help and how blown away she is by something as small as that. She's had to fight to be heard and taken seriously and this is a change. I also loved him risking his life to save her, and that she ended up saving him too. I like that he seems pretty amused by her too - him catching her lip reading, enjoying that fact and even being teasing was great. I'm into their dynamic.
+ Agent Park's admiration of Nancy's skills plus Nancy's uncertainty about where she wants to go in the future makes me wonder if his inclusion is leading to him convincing Nancy to join the FBI?
+ Temperance is super not trustworthy and I'm curious about what her plans are with Bess. She's using her obviously but in what way? Bess is 'destined for greatness' according to Temperance which of course makes me think of the tarot reading - is Bess the one who will "fulfill your destiny and that will cause the rest to fall"?
+ Bess being magic was a little surprising but I like this turn for the character and am excited to see where it leads her.
+ I rather like that Bess sees how Mr. Bobbsey might be playing Ace but ends up not seeing how Temperance is playing her because that feels very real. But I still hope that despite her excitement she at least shows some reservation in learning from Temperance.
+ If Bess is a potential witch because of her legacy then does that mean Nancy is too? We've seen her do magic spells before but could she be a witch if she wanted?
+ There did seem to be a very short moment of sincere vulnerability from Temperance when she told Nancy that she reminded her of someone she failed to save. Was that her daughter Charity? Is this going to be her weakness?
+ I liked the little moment of Nancy rubbing George’s shoulder as she tries to comfort her over the ring and the way George was so receptive to both things.
+ I loved Bess's call to Nancy with her so casual reaction to Nancy breaking into a suspect's house and the fact that Nancy did stop and take the time to try and help her.
+ I love Bess's protectiveness of Ace.
