+ A sign of love: going on a date with a ghost and doing coupley things while completely ignoring everyone's reactions to your apparent insanity. It was making me cringe but I love that Bong-pal didn't even notice. It was all very sweet.
+ The curtain slamming shut immediately after it's opened is a simple and classic haunted move but still very effective.
+ I enjoyed Cheon-sang's super obvious jealousy over In-rang's crush, him comforting In-rang brokenhearted grief, and his "How am I supposed to live without you."
+ In-rang always seemed so much more level headed then Cheon-sang so his over-the-top histrionics over learning Hyun-ji likes someone else were a little surprising, pretty amusing and ridiculously dramatic. I guess he and Cheon-sang really are two birds of a feather.
+ In Hye-sung's interaction with his mother he seemed both genuinely concerned about her cut and then genuinely hurt by her coldness towards him which was... interesting. I'd assumed he was possessed by an evil spirit and that the evil was in control and also a really good actor. But this makes me think the whole kind professor act might not be entirely an act? Could it be more like a time-share where the real Hye-sung is in control of his body partially?
+ I absolutely get why Hyun-ji ended up sadly deciding things wouldn't work out with Bong-pal. It's been building for a couple episodes and between the hit of the Hyun-min/Su-kyung tragedy and Myung-chul's condemnation and telling of Bong-pal's backstory it was basically inevitable she would make this choice. But at the same time it's still so frustrating! One of the major 'lessons' of Hyun-min/Su-kyung's tale was to live each day to the fullest, to not give up simply based on an unknowable future, which is exactly what she is doing here. Yes, it will be weird/hard, others won't understand, she might disappear for good at any time. These are valid worries. But also valid is that Bong-pal is happy now. He even tells her how happy he is and how he's enjoying his birthday for the first time because of her. The trope of one person making a choice unilaterally for another "for their good" often leaves me irritated and this time is no different. If it was for her, okay, but cloaking it in a 'for his own good' is just - ugh.
I'm especially annoyed with Hyun-ji for the way she simply disappeared, abandoning a happy Bong-pal on his birthday without a word. Just disappearing when his back is turned. WTH, Hyun-ji?? That wasn't for Bong-pal, that was for her, that was her being a coward. At the very least she should have confessed to him that she no longer believed in a relationship between them, dumped him and then disappeared in front of him. Instead the gift she ended up leaving him with for his birthday was fear and panic at her sudden disappearance. It was deeply cruel.
When Bong-pal confronts her in the next episode she rejects him with and tells him that it's lonely being like this. And that's absolutely true and we've seen over and over how upsetting it can be for her and how it weighs on her. This is a good reason to break up with him. I'm just not sure how much I buy it as an important part of her decision vs her using some truth (her loneliness) as a weapon to make him leave.
+ If Bong-pal has a piece of the dark ghost in his eye and that's why he can see ghosts I suppose by the end that will probably be exorcised, right? I find myself sad at the idea. He has done a lot of good over the course of this series - both for people haunted by ghosts but also for many ghosts themselves - and if he loses his ability then he won't be able to keep helping people. I hope that he keeps his abilities in the end and continues this path he's on. (With Hyun-ji at his side. And I guess Cheon-sang and In-rang in the background being scaredy cats.)
+ I loved Cheon-sang's worry over Bong-pal's accident and him covering it with bluster over how valuable he is to the company, and a worried In-rang telling him to cut the crap. We don't get to see them being serious as often so this was a nice little moment of them caring for Bong-pal.
+ I knew she was in a coma and it looks like I am going to get both options I thought of, kinda. She was dying, is now awake and probably with amnesia, and Hye-sung is 100% going to be targeting her.
