That was super fun! I loved it.
+ Guy was absolutely delightful. I loved him.
+ I loved the tone, and look, and humour.
+ I loved the Guy vs Dude fight. The Avengers! The lightsaber! Buddy showing up to help. Guy winning by giving him the glasses and distracting him with pretty glowing balls.
+ The Guy and Buddy friendship was great and I loved that Guy's happy ending was made by getting Buddy back.
+ I enjoy watching people reacting to things in media so I enjoyed how much of that there was in this.
+ My biggest issue with the movie was the ending with Millie and Keys ending up together. For two reasons this was deeply meh for me.
1) It's just so cliche. It actually did look to me like the movie wasn't going to go there with them and I was so pleased. But no the guy was pining all along, and of course she figures it out and realises she returns his feelings, and of course they're going to end up together. Meh.
2) The whole point of the movie was how Guy wasn't just a bit of code. That he was changing, learning, that he was real. The first true AI. Millie/Guy don't have to end up together but to end with Guy telling Millie essentially 'I love you but it's only because I'm a love letter from the real guy out there' with the undertone of Guy isn't real but Keyes is feels really undercutting of the story. Guy and the other NPCs aren't mindless bits of code, they are AIs. They are changing, make choices on their own, have feelings and inner lives, they're real.
3) Keys and Guy are really nothing alike. Doing a search and replace doesn't really work for me hear. If she fell for Guy she fell for him not Keys.
+ Taiki was so over-the-top and it was mostly amusing.
