What If... Episode 3
Nov. 3rd, 2021 11:31 pm...The World Lost Its Mightest Heroes
I loved this one.
+ It was great to see Fury again. I hadn't realised how much I'd missed him.
+ I love Fury and Natasha, so it was wonderful to see them interacting again. I love his unshakable trust in her. I loved his "safest bet I'll ever make" about her. I loved their phone call.
+ I loved the end. When he was walking to the shield I kept thinking 'why wouldn't he call Carol' only for his welcome back to be revealed to be aimed at her and it was excellent.
+ Now I really want to know more about this potential new Avengers team. Carol, Steve... who else is Fury going to add to this version? Rhodey doesn't have an armour yet but could he take up as Iron Man, or far less likely Pepper? I could see Sif deciding that Loki has taken this too far and deciding to sign up with Fury's resistance.
+ The reveal that the killer was Hank was unexpected but I enjoyed it. I love that in one universe Hope became a SHIELD agent.
+ Loki showing up with an army to avenge Thor was great. I loved the detail of Sif and the Warrior's Three being with him. His annoyance with Fury's phone ringing and letting him take the call amused me. The fact that he took this all to taking over the world was perfect.
The only issue I had is that I would have liked a little more rage and grief from Loki over Thor's death. I really don't think he would have been that calm about it.
+ I super loved getting to see Loki being the god of mischief for once. His confrontation with Hank, and the way he played with him and took glee in it, was A+ Loki and I want more like that.
+ Fury's appalled expression when Loki said he was going to extend his stay - lol.
+ Coulson being so taken by Thor was a delight, especially this exchange with Fury:
Coulson: with... really great hair.
Fury: Excuse me?
Coulson: It's an accurate description. Sir, he's gorgeous.
LOL!
+ Thor now canonically smells like lavender, even when dead. I love.
+ Coulson's password definitely beats Rhodey's. #stevestevesteveIheartstever0704 - lol.
+ Natasha's worried "Tony, Tony!", aww. I've always had a soft spot for them so I loved that she was so genuinely worried about him and upset when he died.
+ Rumlow's overdramatic "Aw come on!" at Natasha's escape was hilarious.
+ It was nice to see Betty Ross again.
