iaria: (River Song - Spoilers (Doctor Who))

This was a pretty good episode.

• So the ‘best man she’s ever known’ that River killed was the Doctor right? Possibly Eleven but more likely Twelve, yes?

• Those final five minutes... I really do not know what to think or say. I mean yay for Amy going for what she wants but when the Doctor kissed her on the forehead again earlier it read kind of uncle-like to me. Actually, I don’t even know. It’s weird because I was kind of shipping them after the first two episodes but then after these last three it’s just kind of... gone. So I don’t know how I feel about it.

Plus we hadn’t been given an indication of what exactly Amy was thinking. She stated she knew who she wanted but when he pointed out that she was getting married she didn’t say anything to indicate that she wasn’t planning on going through with it, plus there was her line about her not suggesting anything so long term. So – the Doctor is the man she wants but she’s still planning on getting married the next day and isn’t thinking long term with the Doctor? Um, what? So does she want him or not? Or only the once/for awhile aboard the TARDIS and then she’s still planning on returning to Rory? I don’t even know what to think. Is it that she’s hoping to get him out of her system, or she wants to fulfill this dream/wish/want before she’s married?

“I don’t get older, I just change. You get older, I don’t and this can never work.” – Doctor This made me think of Rose (and I suppose every other Companion including Donna).

• The Doctor completely not getting what Amy meant made me laugh. Oh, Doctor.

• I loved that River saved Amy. And that she did it by doing something even after the Doctor said couldn’t be done.

• The final Doctor/River scene was excellent all the way up until her last line, said with a laugh – “You can if you want. But where’s the fun in that?” – and that didn’t work for me. At all. In S4 an older River tells the Doctor that one day she would be someone he would trust completely and granted she is older then but... I don’t know where I was going with that. I guess just that it’s weird to go from that to this.

- Anyway everything else was great and I loved River’s response to the Doctor’s “I could kiss you’ being “Maybe when you’re older.” Heh.

“It’s impossible.” – Doctor
“How impossible?” – River
“Two minutes.” – Doctor

Hee. I love that. The Doctor and his love of the word ‘impossible’ – which really at this point means nothing and I love that River knows it too.

• I loved River’s repeat of “I absolutely trust him.” when the Bishop asked her if the Doctor was ‘some kind of madman’. Heh. Also it reminded me of when the Doctor told Amy that he most certainly was a madman.

• Actually getting to see the Angels move was well done but I must admit to some disappointment that we did see it. Someone pointed out after Blink that at various points in the episode the characters weren’t looking at the Angel’s and yet they didn’t move – because we, the audience, were looking at them. I thought that was really neat.

• I was also disappointed by how the Angels went from beings that feed on ‘potential time energy’ by sending people into the past to just killers. I mean they’re still very creepy but I liked the version of them in Blink more.

• I was pleased when the Doctor pointed out in confusion that there was no consequences to the whole Cyber King episode.
