The Mandalorian 2x07 Thoughts

It's always fun to watch Din kicking ass and him being forced to fight hand-to-hand on the transport was great. Well done fight sequence. But him killing so many of those 'pirates' was not fun and rather uncomfortable. Which I feel was entirely on purpose which was highlighted by them getting saved by TIE fighters and then greeted by stormtroopers with salutes and cheers as if they're heroes - for the Empire. Which they are in this specific scene. I liked the change in perspective.
Poor Din, without his helmet he was like a deer in headlights that had no idea how to react. How uncomfortable he was with the whole experience was very evident and it was in turn a little uncomfortable to watch. But it was also kind of funny how utterly terrible he was at dealing with people once it was gone.
I enjoyed Din and Mayfield's interactions and the journey they took over the course of the episode. Mayfield calling Din on his hypocrisy and the inconsistencies in his beliefs worked for me. I thought he had some points in his rant. I loved Mayfield handing Din the helmet and telling him he didn't see anything. I liked how both of them let themselves (or were forced to) show vulnerability in front of the other.
Din has really gotten so used to his beskar armour that fighting without was a painful experience. I loved his resigned sigh when Mayfield slowed down one final time.
Cara and Fennec playing sharp shooters together was fun.
Boba's bomb weapon used against the TIE fighters was very cool.
This trip was win/win for Mayfield. He got both freedom and a chance to work through his past trauma via murder. I was happy for him.
I loved Din's slow headshake at Mayfield, Mayfield's very noticeably but slow freaking out/loss of control and I loved the 'well shit' look at each other after Mayfield shot Valin Hess. Excellent acting by Bill Burr in this scene, A+ all around.
Mayfield definitely had a point on if the lives of the families of the men killed in Burnin Konn were better but you can really say that for anyone who is killed including the many 'pirates' and tons of Imperials they themselves killed in this episode.
