Private Practice 3x23 Thoughts
May. 15th, 2010 11:33 pmThe End of a Beautiful Friendship
I’ve watched the last three episodes of this season plus a couple other episodes in this season but this certainly isn’t one of my shows and still Dell’s death made me cry. I actually saw it coming once they discovered the first operation hadn’t succeed but yeah.
• The scene between Dell and Betsy was wonderfully done and it’s where I began to cry because you knew it was goodbye, and poor Dell and poor Betsy.
• I felt so much for Betsy at the end and I do not like at all that the show shipped her off to live with some ‘aunt’ elsewhere. I haven’t been watching but the impression I’ve gotten is that the main characters are all sort of Betsy’s family – she knows them all and they’re like aunts and uncles. Considering Addison gave up Lucas in this episode I was actually expecting for her to take Betsy in, or for Violet (and Pete) who were there for Betsy throughout the episode and seemed close to her. I just don’t think Dell would have wanted her to be shipped off away from everyone and everything she knows, and thus making her lose everything at once. Plus I think it would be an excellent storyline for Addison to take her in and adopt her and finally become the mother she wants to be, and for the two of them to heal each other.
• Probably the moment that annoyed me most by far was Violet explaining that there were no photos of Pete and Lucas together because Pete’s ‘a single dad’. I call foul on that nonsense because Addison and Pete have pretty much been playing house for months and there is no way that she didn’t take pictures.
• I wasn’t attached to Addison/Pete and frankly I’ve been expecting their breakup but I have to say, surprisingly enough, that I am a bit sad about it. I hated the idea of them in season one but what I’ve seen from this season has mainly made me go ‘aw’ and think about how great of friends they are and how I’d be fine with them getting together even though I’ve shipped Addison/Sam since the beginning.
• On Addison/Sam, while I am really glad that TPTB appear to be giving them a serious shot as a couple and it may be enough to get me tuning in next season, I actually did not like how the final scene played out. What I wanted from that scene was two people in love with each other finally getting together – the joy of it and the relief of having what they wanted. I wanted smiles and kissing to lead to more. Instead it really seemed to be about sex more than forbidden love and friendship. Sex is good, and with these two it’ll have to be hot, but I want connection and love before it. It left me pretty disappointed.
