The Black Tower

I loved the cracking behind all the mirrors as the harbinger of Strange's freeing of the magic. It was a very creepy, excellent way to show that. Especially after we see the raven's beak and realise the cracking of the glass was Strange's messenger ravens breaking through from the roads. That they were using the roads to return to England to remind the stones and the rain of their old alliances with the Raven King. That the ravens were literally opening the doors. I thought that was well done.

I loved Flora asking Strange to teach her magic and him happily telling her he would, that he'd teach everyone. I liked her bravery in running into the darkness to check on Strange and her refusal to leave him.

I loved that Strange was sending Drawlight with a letter and the finger to Lady Pole.

 I liked the Strange/Drawlight conversation.

I liked the Thistledown Gentleman's wordplay with Strange and poor Strange's obvious heartbreak was well done.

I also really felt for Stephen who let himself do more than endure, to hope for once, only to once again find himself at the mercy of the Thistledown Gentleman. I enjoyed the two of them this episode and I continue to enjoy the Thistledown Gentleman's complete self-obsorbedness to the point he only hears what he wants to.

Considering how distrustful and done with men that Lady Pole understandably is I was a little surprised by her continued belief that Strange could help her.

The biggest negative to the change in how Strange reacted to Arabella's death is that Strange's several months travel on the continent and thus his more significant relationship with the Greysteel family was lost. Thus Flora and Strange's friendship is very heavily compressed and feels shallower and we got a Mr. Greysteel who is understandably suspicious of Strange instead of the supportive friend he is in the book which left me a little disappointed.

I've loved that the series has shown us more of Emma and Arabelle's friendship so I was disappointed that it skipped their interaction at the ball when Strange found them and that the show has made Arabella so lost in enchantment.

I was a bit disappointed with Strange's madness and how that was portrayed.

While I loved that Strange had to accept the moss oak wouldn't that have counted as a deal between him and the Thistledown Gentleman?
