Shadow and Bone Episodes 3 & 4 Thoughts

+ I really liked the addition of West Ravka wanting to form itself into a separate country.
+ Jesper and the goat were adorable. I loved him killing the Volkra like a badass.
+ I can't help but wonder how no one has figured out what Milo is doing and/or how to do the same thing as him.
+ The Apparat isn't quite as creepy and Rasputin-y as I imagined him. He doesn't even have a beard. I'll try to not hold it against him.
+ I loved Genya's line about how Alina has always been Grisha.
Episode 4
+ This episode showcased Alina and Mal's co-dependency really well. Alina scaring her hand to deny her Grishaness so she could stay with Mal is something I always knew, and I like how that scar becomes a symbol of how she's unable to move forward without him. Then we get Mal attacking the quartermaster that insulted Alina (that she'd previously attacked) so that he could get thrown in the brig with her and ending up scaring his hand in a very similar way to hers. I don't remember if that happened in the book but I loved it. I liked how these episodes used Alina and Mal writing letters to further highlight not only their love for each other but their dependency. They dealt with the trauma and isolation of their childhood by becoming each other's true north but now neither knows how to live without the other which is causing genuinely negative effects and I appreciate how this is all playing out.
+ Enjoying the Alina/Kirigan scenes. I liked the repeat of "You are not alone" with Alina trying to reassure him this time.
+ The passage of time isn't really being conveyed very well.
+ Inej letting Jesper shoot the card out of her mouth was a huge trust!
+ The Conducter complaining at his job being to 'make friends' because it was the hardest job amused me. He wasn't wrong. I loved that he then comes up with an alternate plan, executes it perfectly (poor lady) and gets them the in they need, saving the day. In retrospect I loved his so casual sip when she fell.
+ "I'd rather starve than be a traitor." - Nina. Hmm. So how does this work with her helping the conductor remove Grisha from Ravka? I suppose she could be mainly be talking about being a traitor to the Grisha not Ravka. Or perhaps the special assignment that Kirigan has her on has to do with the Conductor?
+ I wish the show was giving us more of Alina and Genya being friends.
+ Aww I was sad when Mal's friends died. They were really good friends and I liked the loyalty between them.
