The Heart Is An Arrow

+ "I shall relax when I have Alina." Even if Zoya didn't appreciate Kirigan's laser focus on Alina I did. As I did the look of rage when the Conductor boasted about killing 'Alina'. His petty jealousy at the end made me roll my eyes

+ I loved Alina calling Kirigan Aleksander without thinking. That in her head now he's Aleksander.

+ "I'm sorry it took so long to see you Alina. I see you now." This Mal is so much better than book Mal, wow. No resentment, no jealousy, no insecurity, no dislike/fear of her power - what a breath of fresh air. A+ job show! I really enjoyed them this episode. I loved his reaction to her power, I liked the teasing between them, I rather liked him already positioning himself as her bodyguard (because it's what she did for him when he was a weak kid), and I loved his reaction to Alina/Kirigan being a thing.

+ I loved the Crows vs the Grisha. That was excellent.

- I loved Inej choosing to pull her knife out after the Inferni's threats. (Which how dumb do you have to be? Shut up with the threats!) That was some great acting by the actress and you could see both how much it hurt but also her resolve.

- I liked that Kaz was visibly terrified of Kirigan because he may be a big scary fish in Ketterdam but in Ravka Kirigan is the most dangerous. I liked that despite that he was still his usual snarky self and had a successful plan to get away. Him successfully diverting the Cut was impressive. On the other hand him disappearing like that so quickly didn't really make sense. His disability isn't for show and it does have a serious impact on his ability to move. He isn't Inej and he shouldn't have been able to move that quickly.

- Jesper vs Ivan was very tense and fun. I liked Jesper being a soft touch and not killing Ivan because there was a child watching. His disdain when David threw a book at him amused me.

- I loved Kaz's momentary emotional reaction when Inej turning up injured but at the same time it kind of feels like too much obvious emotion?

- Finally I loved the absolute hutzpah of them stealing Kirigan's carriage for their getaway.

+ I enjoyed Nina/Matthias a lot.

+ I continue to love the look of the shadows closing in on Kirigan.

+ So Kirigan and Zoya had a 'with benefits' relationship in the past? That actually makes a lot of sense.

+ Small moment but I liked Kirigan gently touching Ivan's shoulder as he walked past him. I also liked him sending Feydor to try and rescue Nina and any other Grisha they could find.

+ Alina parted paths with the Crows gang far quicker than I was expecting and I was a little disappointed. I realise the show needed to follow the books with Alina but they added the Crows to her story and they really could have done more with them here.

+ I like that Inej purposefully didn't try to stop Alina and how the show is playing her faith, and the contrast of that to Kaz. It makes me want to see more of Alina and Inej interacting just to see how that could play out.

+ I found it off and weird during Alina's confrontation with the Crows that it was Jesper taking the lead and trying to convince her while Kaz came off as the threatening background muscle. That's so wrong.

+ I was confused about Nina working for the Conductor but her being Kirigan's spy makes so much more sense.

+ I liked the reveal that the Conductor purposefully killed 'Alina' as part of a deal with General Zlatan.

+ Oh Conductor the Darkling does not need your help getting revenge. I believe General Zlatan is a show only character and since Kirigan is not a person to forget I am very interested in what he's going to do to him. Oh wait, I can absolutely see how they'll tie all this (Klatan and West Ravka's desire to secede) with that big thing the Darkling does with the Fold. That's actually great.
