Episode 23
+ I really love this whole found family - Zishu, Kexing, Chengling, Xiang and now Weining. They are so freaking lovely and wonderful, and sweet. I only want the best things for them. I'm also just so happy that both Kexing and Xiang who had such difficult lives found their soulmates in two lovely and kind men who genuinely adore them and want to make their lives better. I hope they all get it.
+ So many Kexing/Xiang feels. Kexing's realisation that Xiang saved him at the same time he was saving her. Kexing claiming her as his daughter. Kexing a) letting Xiang go from his life so she could have a good mortal life, and b) letting the Gentle Wind Sword Sect go from his revenge scheme so she could have a new family - all for her and her happiness. It makes me want to cry. As did he story about finding Xiang and their early life together. And Xiang tearfully opening up to Kexing about her fears and worries and dearest wish for her future.
"You are my girl." ♥ I loved her grin at him. I loved him putting his arm around her shoulder. I loved him teasingly offering to sell her to Weinnig, then offering her at half-price, then ending with giving her away for free. I loved him teasing her that she's bullying him.
Also I love that Kexing built snowmen with Xiang.
+ Kexing laments that Xiang had a bad example in him but that is so wrong and I hope he realises that at some point (but I don't think he will.) He saved her, her only treated her with love and affection, he managed to create a childhood with some happy memories in a truly terrible place, something he had no control over. Most of important of all despite her brashness and less than refined way of talking Xiang is a wonderful person. She's compassionate and kind under her harsher exterior, she's confident and loyal. He did a very good job raising her if you judge things by how the kid turns out and if you judge by their childhood.
+ Awww, Weining won over his new father-in-law! I love it so much. He even got a smile and a hand clasp!
+ We started the series seeing the dangerous side of the Leader of the Ghost Valley but this episode really gives a glimpse of the compassionate side of him. Xiang wandered into the Ghost Valley as a very young child and Kexing took her under his wing, making her his disciple and protected her, raised her. When Tragicomic Ghost brought Qianqiao to the Ghost Valley he allowed her to stay without drinking the Water of Lethe.
+ I loved Zishu holding Kexing's hand between his. I loved him teasingly pulling the water away before handing it over.
+ Zishu covering the fact that he's lost his sense of taste was sad but also quite sweet that he's protecting Kexing.
+ I was completely right about what was wrong with Kexing and it doesn't make me any less worried.
+ This exchange was hilarious:
Kexing: You were eavesdropping.
Zishu: I was not. I didn't hide at all.
+ I loved Zishu calling Kexing 'father-in-law' and making Weining the offer to handle Kexing for him if he's ever mean to him.
+ I loved Xiang applying to Zishu for help in reasoning with Kexing.
+ The Xie Wang and Qianqiao scene was excellent. I loved their back and forth, and I think Qianqiao's words actually hit Xie Wang, and hopefully he continues to think. I'm with Xie Wang - unfaithfulness isn't about gender, and also "Who doesn't fail anyone, and isn't failed by others?" Even without meaning to you can fail other people, other people can let you down. It's just another aspect of being human.
+ I hadn't realised Zishu sent Shen Shen away to both save his life and to protect Kexing from more blood on his hands.
