Word of Honor Thoughts
Dec. 30th, 2021 08:45 pmEpisode 35
I was pretty sure that this series was going to be a tragedy but not Weining! He and Xiang were supposed to be safe and get a happy ending! And I knew Mo Huai Yang was nothing but trouble but the way he just snapped Weining's neck like that. D: The betrayal! Weining loved and trusted and respected him so much and to do that, to do it like this on this day. That fucker.
I realise that a lesson you should learn from this series is that vengeance isn't actually worth it, and that you have to break the cycle in order to have a happy future, but holy god do I deeply want Gentle Wind Sword Sect wiped out and Mo Huai Yang left for last so he can see his everything he cared about destroyed before him, and then to die slowly himself. How dare he?!
Weining dying in Xiang's arms - so sad! Okay, I get how this episode is going to go. I'm not ready.
I'm surprised that Mo Huai Yang left Xiang alone to grieve instead of immediately trying to kill her. But then he also didn't interfere when she killed two of his Sect in front of him so who knows what goes on in his stupid head.
Watching Xiang go murderous was amazing. We have never seen her fight like that. She looked so fierce and was stunning in her wedding finery.
Qianqiao murdering Feng without a blink was honestly kind of delightful. Her being killed immediately after a whole lot less so. ): Noo. She's supposed to spend her life quietly with Fumeng. I see Feng was as much of a dick dying as he was in life - of course he has to make it about him and distract her to her death.
He cleansed his Sect? He killed everyone? WTF is wrong with him? He's actually right up there with the worst of villains. And of course it all comes back to the stupid Glazed Armour.
Xiang refusing to stop trying to kill Mo Huai Yang, oh sweetie.
Kexing loves Xiang so much. His terror at her being held hostage, him promising anything to save her life.
Xiang's death in Kexing's arms made me cry so much. I figured she was going to die after Weining did but it hurt. The way she could think of nothing but killing Mo Huai Yang, that she only kept repeating "I'll kill him" until she got Kexing to promise to kill him for her was so sad, as was her telling Kexing to take care of himself because she couldn't anymore. D: Her dying with a smile because she was going to go meet Weining. ):
Kexing breaking-down over Xiang's body and then carrying her over to Weining's body to lay them to rest beside each other was beautiful as so much of this show is, and also deeply sad as a lot of this show also is.
It bothers me that everyone else was MIA during this whole Xiang-death&revenge sequence. I realise they wanted to concentrate on Kexing as the one who loved Xiang best, and his grief, and him fulfilling her last wish and getting revenge on Mo Huai Yang but it makes no sense to me. Where the hell was Zishu?! Or Chengling? It wasn't that big an area they were fighting in! Especially once everyone started retreating they should have been right there by their sides! We could have at least seen them find Xiang/Weining and then Zishu taking off to find Kexing.
I have to give Mo Huai Yang credit for showing up at the last second to take the title of Most Hated Character.
Kexing killing Mo Huai Yang was very satisfying. Kill him harder! It was a great fight. High points for blinding him and for breaking his sword and for pulling the sword out of his body and stabbing Huai Yang with it yesss. I liked him apologising to Xiang for making his death too easy.
... oh god. Is Kexing going to die without ever learning that Zishu is dying? ... Is that better or worse?
Okay, I love Xie'er and want him to survived (I know he won't) but for the gloating and betrayal he needs to at least watch Zhao Jing die in front of him.
I do not believe that Lao Wen died. If this was his death scene then... okay than. Kind of disappointing. Certainly me thinking that he can't die now has taken away a lot of the impact the scene should have. But also the shot of him reaching for Zishu's light was very strange and made him look like he had a massive head for the size of his body which kept taking me out of the scene. Then on top of both of those Zishu just standing there, for so long (!) and only at the last moment slowly reaching out to touch Kexing's fingers kind of left me feeling irritated. Why are you just standing there Zishu! You're soulmate is dying, do something. I did love the touching of fingers but I really hope this wasn't Kexing's death scene.
I'm sad Fumeng died. I mean, I knew she would and I assume it was soon after Qianqiao did, perhaps during an attempt to reach her, but I wish we'd seen it. She deserved to die on-screen.
I keep saying this about minor characters but I wish we'd seen more of Evil Bodhisattva aka Du Pusa and especially of her relationship with Xie'er. She notices his upset when they learn Qianqiao died, she kept looking at him afterwards, clearly worried. She's remained loyal to him throughout. I want to know more about them.
Sleepy Kexing ordering Xiang to leave and her tearfully doing so and him not even realising that it was real, that it was Xiang there, until it was too late ): and then crying in his sleep.
I can't believe Zishu planning to leave before Kexing even woke because he didn't know how to face him. Dude! He tells them that it's his fate to roam the world - was he planning for them to never know his fate? To stop the Armoury from being opened and either die during or after by himself? Bad Zishu!
Oh, poor Chengling. He's so desperate at the end and so devastated and I feel so terrible for him. His life is one loss after another.
