The Confession of the Long Night

+ Nancy and Ace's reunion hug was excellent. I loved the way she turns and he's standing right there and how after the shortest of pauses they immediately fall into each others arms. I loved that Ace spent the entire episode trying to contact Nancy, sure that it was Nancy who would be able to save them.

+ Nancy/Park made me very happy. I'm glad they're now a thing. I loved that after him initially backing off the truth serum led him to telling her what he really feels and that after their closet sex he actively decided to pursue her and that she decided to accept him. I like how he treats her and I like how they are together. I don't think it's endgame but I'm here for the now.

+ Nancy is pretty forthright with Park about her feelings in a way that she hasn't been with Ace. I'm guessing a lot of that has to do with Ace being her friend and her not being as willing to take a risk with their relationship. Nancy kind of put out feelers in their last scene but she didn't actually ask Ace about his text which makes me think her hesitance to make the first move with him + her and Park's closet sex/dating has made her decide to let go of any hope of a relationship happening with him.

This would put things into Ace's hands but he clearly realises that he missed his chance with Nancy and is electing to respect her new relationship with Park. The way he said 'look at a friend' felt very pointed (in an accepting way not a critical one) and I notice that while Nancy kept her hand lingering on his shoulder he took her elbow and gently pulled her arm away.

+ I loved how supportive George was of Nancy liking both Ace and Park. It was a cute moment between them.

+ The whole Ace and Hanna trapped in another reality situation ended up being a let down. Ace was sure that Nancy would get their signals but then they only give her the radio clue before he literally spells it out for her. Mostly they just wander around. Meanwhile, Hanna said it was very difficult to affect the other world (which would bear out her lack of progress and opaque attempts to communicate) and yet it didn't actually seem that difficult for Ace. Plus no one knew until the very end that he was even missing nor does Ace get to learn anything particularly interesting or useful while essentially invisible which felt like a wasted opportunity. The show really rushed through this plot when it really should have been given at least a full episode to itself.

+ Honestly the truth spell plot also didn't feel used to it's full potential. It could have been a lot more fun and/or devastating then it ended up being so that was a disappointment too.

+ Ace and Hanna both seemed weirdly emotionless? Hanna said there was urgency but I never actually felt it from how they were acting. Ace is naturally a very calm and collected person but even for him this seemed like a bit much.

+ I'm deeply annoyed that we didn't see Bess hug Ace. The fact that she ignored him and walked past him to talk to Hanna was ridiculous. I get that she had a closer relationship with Hanna then everyone else and was full of guilt but Ace is her best friend, they are very close, she didn't realise he was missing, and he almost died! I really can't buy her not being the one to interrupt Nancy/Ace with a giant hug of relief.

+ Ryan happily hugging Ace was sweet.

+ I loved Nancy working with Temperance and Bess as a stand-in Woman In White to do a spell to save Ace and Hanna.

+ "Now we are truly connected. By blood. Niece." Yeah, that felt very ominous. They are already connected by blood which makes me wonder just what this new blood connection can mean. Nothing good for Nancy, I assume.

+ Once again no Temperance/Ryan interaction or acknowledgement of their relationship which continues to be weird to me.

+ Ryan going off on Nancy about her feeling like the smartest person in the room didn't seem that bad to me. What Nancy said was rude and condescending but more importantly him bringing up Celia just showed how much fear he must be feeling about Nancy. I liked him apologising to her about it and that she apologised back. I liked her opening up about how she liked having him in her life, aww.

+ I find it very weird that no one realised Ace was MIA. When a mystery/body shows up usually the entire gang is called so why wouldn't they have done that here? And if they did why did no one mention how weird it was that they couldn't get a hold of Ace?

+ George and Nick's implosion and what George had to say didn't really surprise me. I feel bad for both of them but honestly them breaking up (even if only for a while) is likely for the best. Also them being in a relationship has made so much of their story revolve around each other that I'm excited by the idea that maybe they'll get to be more involved now.

+ Bess still being sure that Nancy won't believe her about Temperance without proof remains very dumb to me.

+ Hanna musing that she hadn't realised how much time had passed - two whole weeks! - amuses me. It's basically the opposite issue I have - it's only been two weeks in universe since the end of last season? Wow. This show.
