Overall I liked the series and loved Yƫko Takeuchi's take on Sherlock.

+ Wato's weird fugue state bothered me throughout the episode. It ended up being put entirely down to Moriwaki's brainwashing and that doesn't sit well with me though I don't like it as Wato's natural reaction to Sherlock killing her boyfriend either. I think I just don't like it as a character beat for Wato. It feels passive and removing of her agency.

I was hoping it was some ploy of Wato's to uncover the truth behind Moriya's death. She had the pieces - the star picture, his unreleased book, frankly just the way Irikawa was talking after his death - it was all suspicious as hell. This season has been Wato learning and growing from being around Sherlock, and her choosing to keep believing in Sherlock and being a part of Moriwaki's downfall instead of being a victim that needs to be saved would have resonated far better.

+ I loved Sherlock calling Wato her friend. I loved that whole sequence of Sherlock taking hold of the gun and pressing it against her chest as she tried to get through to Wato. Sherlock getting emotional over Wato this episode was great.

+ I loved Sherlock getting the better of Moriwaki over the formula.

+ Reimon and Hatano (and Kento) sticking by Sherlock was lovely to see.

+ Kento's resigned irritation over Sherlock declaring that she doesn't need anyone's help amused me especially when she immediately continued to order him around and use his help. And then she got help from the homeless man and Hatano, and then Reimon/Shibata showing up to help her escape. Sherlock's journey to realising that she does need help, that she has people she can count on, ending in her thanking Reimon/Shibata and asking for their help was lovely.

+ Reimon's giant grin at Sherlock's thank you was great and to have it immediately followed by him grimacing when she asked for a favour made me laugh.

+ I loved that Sherlock stole Shibata's gun on purpose because she believed in him so much that she knew he would never quit.

+ I liked Reimon pointing out that Sherlock's knowledge and observation and deductive skills work with their abilities to solve their cases.

+ I loved that Reimon didn't turn in Shibata's resignation but it does make me wonder what the hell his bosses think he was doing for the week or so of this episode since it mostly wasn't being a detective.

+ I do wish the show had delved into Sherlock's relationship with Moriwaki more. She used to be Sherlock's student?
