Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
Apr. 2nd, 2022 09:29 pmI liked it. Definitely not near as good as the first one but I don’t regret watching it.
+ It took me so long to watch this because I was so unhappy at the idea of Donna dying. I’m still not pleased with her death but it was done well enough and I really enjoyed how much her loss still weighed on everyone and how much of a presence she had in their lives. Still would prefer the version where she was alive.
+ I enjoyed the flashbacks to Donna first finding the island, her journey to making it hers and how she met Harry, Bill and Sam.
+ I loved that Sam still lived on the island with Sophie and how close they were.
+ I loved Harry and Bill returning at the last minute because they realised it was more important to support their daughter.
+ One of my favourite little moments was when Sam hugs Bill and Harry and emotionally thanks them for coming.
+ Of the three guys I actually liked young Bill the best and enjoyed his time with Donna the most.
+ The songs were okay. There were a lot more mediocre ones than the first but that wasn’t entirely unexpected. They also felt a little more of a stretch to fit into making sense in context.
+ I loved the song between Donna and Sophie as each had their child baptised. Good song, well done scene that left me surprisingly emotional.
+ I was surprised by how little Ruby was in the movie and how little she had to do with the plot or even as a part of Sophie's emotional journey. She basically shows up at the end for an extended cameo for no real purpose.
+ The Sophie/Sky fighting felt pointless and unnecessary.
