I ended up really enjoying this. Can't wait for season 2.

I for the most part really enjoyed the humour.

Stede/Ed were wonderful. I loved them immediately connecting and then the slow building friendship and reveal that they were in fact in love with each other. So many absolutely wonderful moments between them. The genuine joy and happiness they found in each other was great to watch.

I like the whole ragtag crew of misfits. My top three were Lucius, Oluwande and Frenchie.

Lucius is so great. I love his confidence and attitude. His long-sufferingness amuses me. Him standing up for himself with Izzy and smacking him down was amazing. I loved it. Not at all worried about his fate.

The Stede, Ed and Lucius treasure hunt was surprisingly fun. Stede and Ed flirting over Ed's fantasy restaurant and Lucius's reactions to it was hilarious. I loved Lucius bitching out Ed and calling him a dick. His loyalty and genuine care about Stede was great.

Oluwande is just so normal and kind and competent and lovely. I want the best things for him.

Frenchie and Oluwande inventing the pyramid scheme and Egyptian Prince scheme to scam the french aristocrats was great and I loved that whole subplot.

I enjoyed Frenchie and Feeney's little planning session when they got a cabin for themselves and the little exchange with Oluwande over it. They have a sitting area!

Ed's return to the Revenge mid mutiny against Izzy and him not even blinking at it amused me a lot.

I liked Jim and Spanish Jackie's small plotline especially their little detente in ep 8 and hope we get more of them.

Izzy is terrible but I find him fun. I love how much he clearly wants Blackbeard to dom him hard. I like his messed up loyalty. I want him to live the rest of his life watching Ed and Stede be ridiculous and lovey-dovey with each other and get to see his fun reactions to them. And occasionally he can try and kill Stede/steal the Revenge/bring back Blackbeard but in the end always find himself back to watching the worst thing he's ever seen.

I was so pleased about what the show did with Mary. Her finding joy and fulfillment in her widowhood, her attempting to kill Stede to get it back, them bonding and then Stede coming up with the (dramatic) plan to make things better for both of them - it was all excellent. I liked her a lot and I liked where she and Stede ending the series. I really want her and Stede to become penpals, and he of course will pick a ridiculous name, and then they find a real friendship and love through letters.

I really liked that final little moment between Stede and his daughter where they reach a tentative understanding/peace and she accepts half his petrified orange. It was very sweet.

I couldn't stop wondering what happened to Ed's previous ship and crew. Possibly I missed it but it bugged me.
