Interceptor and 6 Underground

It was a fine low budget afternoon action movie experience.
+ This was very much a throwback to early '90s action movies so much so that I wouldn't have been surprised to see Seagal or Van Damme show up. So even though it's a new movie watching it was weirdly nostalgic which I think made me like it more than I might otherwise have.
+ The idea of everything being broadcast was great but they didn't do enough with it. I liked the little commentary from Hemsworth's character but we really needed more of it and certainly more reaction shots from others. The whole country was made a captive audience so let us see their reactions to her being a badass, the tension as their fates rest in her succeeding. It was all too low key.
+ The sexual assault backstory did make me sigh a lot. I hate when that's used for women even if it was a whole plot point and not just thrown out there as a background point.
6 Underground
Disappointing. This was very much style over substance.
+ I can be fine with a movie being more style but this one just didn't come together for me.
+ There were some nice action. There were a bunch of scenes/moments where I was like 'oh pretty' as far as how it was staged/looked (like, Five in the gas mask or Two during her CIA mission flashback) but in the end a lot of it felt staged just for the visual/action moment and didn't entirely make sense.
+ The biggest issue I had was that none of the characters or the relationships between them really grabbed me.
Meh.
