Hotel Del Luna Episode 13
Jul. 30th, 2022 10:18 pm+ I really liked how Seo-hee and Man-wol's personal journeys intersected here and the scene with the pregnant woman was excellent. Man-wol's certainty that Seo-hee would enjoy her vengeance, Seo-hee finding it satisfying for only a moment before remembrance of her own grief forced empathy and she chose to save the woman and her child instead.
+ The truth about Seo-hee's past was horrifying and sad, and I absolutely get why she's spent the last two hundred years trapped in her need for vengeance.
+ Chan-sung and Man-wol were very sweet. I loved him drawing her symbol on his hand and claiming he belongs to her. I loved Man-wol responding to Seon-bi musing that the woman Chan-sung loved must be happy with a slight smile and agreement that she is. Their relationship has a bittersweet undertone to all their interactions with the knowledge that the best fate for Man-wol is him helping her to finally leave for the afterlife and I'm increasingly loving that aspect.
+ I loved the scene where Chan-sung and Man-wol randomly meet in a hall and she immediately gets defensive and he's suspicious and resigned and then instead of pushing her simply decides to trust that she'll do the right thing, while he gets back to his full workday.
+ I loved how the situation with Mi-ra played out for Man-wol. Specifically that she didn't know Yeon-woo/Young-soo was connected to her now and thus her decision over Mi-ra's fate would affect him. Make the right choice to help someone she hated and in the process protect a person she loves, or make the wrong choice to continue with vengeance and inadvertently leave the person she cared about in danger.
Man-wol ended up grudgingly making the right choice but now that Chung-myung is possessing Chan-sung and has returned to her life I feel like she might end up taking a huge step back with potentially disastrous consequences.
+ I find the whole Chung-myung firefly deal so delightfully bittersweet and lovely. That he stubbornly stayed with her that whole time, fulfilling his final promise to her, that as she lived her angry and lonely existence she was never alone, and while he was always there he was just as profoundly alone and lonely himself. It's so sad and tragic in the best way.
+ On the other hand the reveal that Chung-myung committed suicide using Man-wol as the weapon made me go 'wtf dude??' He didn't want her to live with the pain of killing him and thought it better if he did it himself? He just decided her anger wouldn't see past his explanation so no sense in even trying to give one? He couldn't handle her rage/hatred/pain and thought it best to give her what she wanted by his own hand? I wanted to smack him upside the head.
+ Chan-sung finally wearing the ostentatious suit Man-wol got him to distract and amuse Seo-hee was lovely.
