The Exorcist
Mar. 16th, 2023 11:23 pmI enjoyed the series. A little surprised because this isn't usually a topic I'm interested in but I'd heard good things and they turned out to be true. Really great acting from the leads. It's too bad it was cancelled because I'd have watched more especially as I found season 2 even better than the first.
Season 1
+ Honestly just so happy to see Geena Davis and I thought she was great. I liked the reveal that she was Regan.
+ I was sad about Chris. She went through that terrible possession, lost her daughter because of her choices afterwards, didn't get to be in her daughter's life or know her granddaughters, and then when it appeared that she'd have the chance to know them and be a part of their lives she was murdered, murdered thinking the demon had won and claimed her daughter.
+ Tomas questioning if God meant for them to save the demons too was interesting and I wish the show had addressed that again at any point.
Season 2
+ The previous season ended relatively happy that I was sure that Andy would come out of this alive, even after Lorraine's murder. It would be okay. And then death :( Poor Andy. He was so lovely and I loved his relationship with his children and it was just really sad.
+ Rose becoming foster parent to Truck was wonderful. I loved those scenes from him sadly explaining how he can't sleep to him happily falling into a pile with his siblings. It makes no sense that she would have been able to foster all of them (either in a legality standpoint or money-wise) but it's a nice thought and either way you know she'd put the effort in to maintain their relationships.
+ Verity's obvious fear about being left out in the cold after leaving foster care had me waiting for Andy to tell her that she was always welcome to live with him and/or him showing her adoption papers or something to reassure her and it didn't happen. I like to think that Andy left his estate to her/the kids in his will thus making sure they'd be taken care of.
+ Marcus/Tomas were excellent. Their exchange before Tomas accepted the demon was so good. Marcus choosing to shoot possessed Andy to save Tomas and everything about that scene was great. As was him telling Tomas later that 'he wasn't' willing to sacrifice him.
+ I was surprised that we didn't have Mouse take the gun from Marcus and shoot Andy herself.
+ Mouse was great. Truly A+ introduction with her sneaky murder of the seven demons. This is a woman who knows what needs to be done and I'm here for it. That said I'm not sure her approach will prove to be the best fit with Tomas.
+ Tomas's arrogance and impulsiveness this season was both fairly understandable but also frustrating and a couple times, especially in the first half, I very much wanted to shake him.
+ Poor Bennett. He has absolutely no luck. I'm choosing to think that his belief in Tomas being able to save people from Integration is foreshadowing for how Tomas would have eventually saved him from it, thus definitively proving it is possible.
