Signal Episode 8 Thoughts
Apr. 23rd, 2023 10:40 pm+ So excited about the cliffhanger ending. I was expecting/hoping that Chief Ahn would come upon Hae-young talking to Jae-han but I guess there's still time for that. I feel like the show might not make that reveal this soon but I really hope they do. I like the idea of Jae-han's maybe remorseful killer to be the second person to know and for him to maybe even get involved in helping them. Him regretting Jae-han's murder and being desperate to stop his past self is super interesting to me.
+ Oh, Ahn Chi-soo I'm so disappointed in you. He's been shady as hell all along and I knew it was a chance he was the killer and yet even knowing the truth I kind of want his redemption. He clearly hates his life and choices, he's starting to make choices against his superiors orders, it could happen!
+ It's so nice when a plan comes together. All the 'reveals' were great but my favourite part is that Hae-young's confrontation with Se-kyu wasn't an emotional confrontation but rather a calculated provocation based on his profile of Se-kyu. And it worked! Plus Hae-young being all smug after the confession was great.
+ Se-kyu was an even more terrible person then I'd guessed and I'm bummed Kyung-tae wasted his vengeance murder when he could have murdered this asshole instead. On the other hand I do enjoy when people's arrogance leads to their downfall and Se-kyu is going to hate the humiliation of the trial and incarceration.
+ Hae-young saying he could look away from rape and ruining someone's life, despite how disgusted and furious it made him, but not murder made me side-eye him a little. Dude. That's exactly what's wrong with the world. I realise he was making a point but meh.
+ I liked little bittersweet moment of Soo-hyun seeing the resolution of the first case she worked on with Jae-han.
+ I'm a little confused about the timeline because for some reason I thought Jae-han's investigation was in 2000 but actually it seems to still be 1995. Oops.
+ Poor Da-hae. That was some terrible stuff she went through. But at least for this might lead to a happier outcome - she can take back her name and life, be a part of her mother and sister's lives and rediscover her love with Min-sung. This is way better than a lot of the case-related people get. I'm glad.
+ I loved Hae-young 'subtly' calling out his superiors for leaking the tape to a suspect.
+ I realise that Soo-hyun was on a scheduled but she really should have knocked that 'nurse' out and either handed him over to the hospital security or taken him with her. He's a criminal who might (did) have important information on his bosses.
