Signal Episodes 9 and 10 Thoughts
Apr. 25th, 2023 10:10 pmEpisode 9
+ Soo-hyun choosing to go out and walk in the victim's steps without telling anyone was very foolish. Sure she was trying to understand the women by walking their footsteps not actively trying to attract the killer's attention but she also knew that she had purposefully made herself fit the profile and then walked the area they disappeared. And then instead of returning home she kept walking into the night which was even worse. Have some self-preservation, Soo-hyun! Jae-han failed a little too in not heading back with her but she's an adult making her own terrible decisions.
+ A little disappointed that Hae-young's confrontation with Chief Ahn didn't lead anywhere. I was so into the idea of him overhearing Jae-han. It could still happen since he knows something is going on. I find their interactions in their next scene afterwards interesting - Hae-young was his usual intense self but actually politer (learning from what Soo-hyun is trying to teach him?) and Chief Ahn in turn gave permission without being a dick about it. Curious to see where this is going.
+ Chief Ahn is a crooked cop and a murderer and shouldn't be as intriguing as he is. I'm putting it down to the actor because I'm very interested in where his story is going and honestly kind of rooting for him to manage a turn around.
+ Soo-hyun's mom luring Hae-young over and then getting him to do all the needed cleaning up and chores while grilling him was fun.
+ All this looking at discovered skeletons is actually making me wonder if Jae-han might not be alive. We didn't actually seen him die. There's the question of where he's been the last 15 years and how he's stayed hidden but it would be a great twist.
Episode 10
+ I love how brave Soo-hyun was. Not just in escaping from the killer herself but in confronting the past and in telling not just her squad but the rest of the cops what happened to her.
+ I love how proud Jae-han was to learn that Soo-hyun became a team leader.
+ I like how they inspire each other to be better. Hae-young encouraging Jae-han to go to Soo-hyun and tell her what he thinks, Jae-han's words then insipring her not only to keep being a police office but in the future to keep pursing her memories.
+ Continuing to be frustrated with Soo-hyun making terrible life choices. Her following up her realization that they had been looking in the wrong place by rewalking the path alone in the same place she knows the killer is still active is just... ITS CALLED BACK UP.
