It was great to see the characters again.
+ I am okay with Dewey dying. It was sad but not really unexpected. It makes sense that they'd kill him off. What I'm really sad about was how his life turned out in his final years. Alone, regretting and with nothing in his life - that's too sad! They could have at least let him be happy. I loved and enjoyed him stepping up to help Sam, choosing to get involved. He was very likeable the entire movie. But his actual death was so dumb!
+ Gale and Sydney's interactions were great. I loved them together. I loved them easily confirming to Sam that they intended to kill Ghostface. I loved the way Gale came charging to Sydney's defence and demanding Sam show her respect. I loved Sydney giving Gale the gun. I loved them teaming up to save the girls.
+ I liked Sam and Tara. I loved how tenacious Tara was.
+ I feel like there's a really good set up to make Sam the killer in the next movie. She handled that knife like a pro.
+ I was suspicious of Amber from the hospital room visit and pegged her as Ghostface. Only I thought she was in love with Tara or obsessively possessive of her and this was some sort of single white female situation, which was why Tara survived.
+ I really liked the Richie we saw for most of the movie. He seemed pretty sensible and his reactions to the insaneness happening around him rang very true and funny. I loved him consuming the movies and using that knowledge going forward. The reveal that he was ghostface and a stan of the series was fun. I really love that they had Dewey immediately point him out as the potential killer.
+ I loved that it was Randy's niece who was the new lore master. I liked how they played her being attacked. I really liked that both Mindy and Chad survived.
+ I like how the movie occasionally played with expectations especially with the set up of attack opportunities that then don't happen. I liked Chad having that self-aware moment of nope.
+ I was happy the both Gale and Sydney did end up with happy fulfilling lives. Gale with her dream job, Sydney married to Mark (which also made me pleased) and with (3?) children living a normal life in peace.
+ I enjoyed seeing Billy again.
+ My main issue is that it hit too many moments of disbelief
The Sheriff's house is in the middle of town but somehow no one saw her being murdered even after her dramatic screech up to her house? No one saw her body afterwards? There was no commotion for Wes to hear so, apparently.
The sheriff calls all units to her house and they still haven't shown up by the time we leave the scene.
The hospital sequence was very tense and creepy and was a great environment - except I couldn't help but wonder where the hell everyone was. Nurses, other patients. Yes it was night time but no one around?
