I liked it.

+ I like the idea of the Aes Sedai and it's divisions into different coloured Ajah's each with their own purpose. I wanted to know more about them and to get to see more of the White Tower and how it all works.

+ I love the whole concept of the Aes Sedai/Warder relationship. Loved all the glimpses we got of the various relationships. I loved Alanna having two Warders and their willingness to bring in a third. I loved the reveal that Moiraine gets emotional when Lan drinks and the idea that the Aes Sedai/Warder bond can affect them in such ways.

+ I love Moiraine/Lan. They were my favourite relationship of the series. Their quiet devotion to each other and understanding of the other is so lovely. One of my favourite moments was Lan going to her after the funeral. I loved Lan's protectiveness. His simmering anger during their confrontation with the White Cloaks was great. I loved how well the two of them fought together. I liked that the final episodes had Moiraine trying to protect Lan too. Her bringing up breaking their bond, telling him she likes Nynaeve (giving her blessing), blocking their bond and leaving him behind at the end.

"You've taken nothing from me. Before you I had nothing to live for and nothing to die for. You have given me both."

+ Moiraine/Lan's broken bond and Moiraine's connection to the One Power being cut made me so sad. I think it's very likely Moiraine will go on a journey that will reestablish her connection to the One Power, and hopefully will be even more powerful cause that's how these stories go, and I'm interested in that. But I have the sinking feeling that Lan will end up becoming Nynaeve's Warder - their relationship, his wish to be her Warder, the fact that he now has something to live for outside Moiraine and is no longer connected to her - and I'm not about that. I feel very grumpy about the possibility lol.

+ Nynaeve/Lan definitely seems like a pairing I'd love but I think I just fell for Lan/Moiraine so quickly that there's no room for anything else. I'm a little annoyed about it because the Nynaeve and Lan's build-up and relationship had some great moments and a nice build.

Lan telling Nynaeve that she wasn't going to kill him and then her immediately trying to kill him and him being kind of impressed about it was fabulous and I very much enjoyed it.

+ The Moiraine/Siuan reveal was great. I love them as two lovers playing a secret long game to save the world, sacrificing being with each other in the name of their goal, the longing for each other. Excited to see how that plays out.

+ One of my favourite moments was Kerene and Stepin alone in their tent. It was a short scene but you really got a feel for their relationship, the depths of their loyalty to each other, their understand of each other. I loved so much their shared giggles over thinking of how Moiraine and Lan's relationship was like. I wanted so much more of them.

+ Nynaeve saving herself from the trolloc was excellent. Loved it. I also loved that she chose to follow after Moiraine and the others in order to protect her people.

+ Rand's mother was a badass.

+ I liked Rand overcoming the Dark One's influence because his desire for Egwene to have the life she wanted was stronger then the one he wanted, and because he wanted Egwene as she was not an idealised version of her.

+ I liked Egwene the most out of the group of four.

+ Moiraine and Alanna's friendship was really nice. Especially because Moiraine keeps herself so distant it's nice to see.

+ Liandrin had such ex energy in all her interactions with Moiraine. Either bitter about their break up but still wanting, or still in love and angry about it but just very ex-vibes, and I enjoyed it.

+ I loved that little moment of goodbye both Moiraine and Lan had with their horses before leaving through the Ways.

+ I like the Egwene/Perrin friendship and more specifically that Perrin's unrequited love/pining doesn't get in the way of it. I like how it's handled. He feels how he feels but he never puts it on anyone else.

+ Mat giving Perrin the dagger Laila made was a nice scene.

+ I liked Thom. And his sort of mentor-ship of Mat. I feel like Mat needs a lot more of that in his life so I hope they end up meeting up again. (I in no way believe Thom is dead.)

+ I liked Dana a lot which made the reveal that she was a Darkfriend work all the better even if I was really sad that she died.

+ Liandrin's simmering anger at the world, and the unfairness of men still holding such power over them was super understandable.

+ I enjoyed the episode one Trolloc battle in the village.

+ The show is very much a ensemble piece which I like but if I'd had to single out one person as the protagonist/lead I'd pick Moiraine which surprised me. I know almost nothing about the books except that Rand is the protagonist in them.

+ Moiraine being so allergic to actually communicating with people, to the point it gets called out multiple times, could be pretty frustrating.

+ All I could think when Moiraine caused the building to collapse in episode one was that I hope no one was in it. But considering the chaos and danger it's super likely a bunch of people got crushed.

+ I don't think Moiraine has any blame for the death of the ferryman. Except in the fact that she lead their group to that crossing and thus the army with them. But she wasn't wrong about needing to destroy the ferry nor about the hopelessness of the ferryman crossing back. Like, what exactly did he think would happen if he did that? How would his immediate murder help his son? Now if his son had been in the hut and Moiraine had let him be left behind then that would be something morally dark to side eye her about. But he was away, nothing to be done about that. He will come upon the trolloc army and either immediately back away and escape or be discovered and killed. She didn't force the ferryman to jump, and we've never seen a Aes Sedai use their power in a way the implied she could have rescued him after the fact.

+ I'm not sure I entirely understand the place of the White Cloaks in this. Are they from a neighbouring country? They're running around murdering Aes Sedai (and I assume their Warders) with seeming impunity. When Egwene and Perrin ran into them they were within sight of the White Tower! But no mention was made of them at the Tower? No mention was made of fighting back against them. Their existence makes sense but things around them didn't feel explained enough.
