Nikita 1x16 ‘Echoes’
This was a pretty intense episode. I really enjoyed it even though I spent most of it on the edge of my seat biting my nails about Alex inadvertently revealing something incriminating to Amanda (or possibly because of that). All of Alex’s hallucination/dreams were really well done. I loved most of all: the Nikita/Alex training session fight at the start of the episode, the Nikita/Michael fight/kiss (I saw some heat there! I want more!) with Alex’s eye roll “I knew it!” reaction and seeing Nikita interacting with Percy and Amanda as an ally.
• “I want to learn what it’s like to wake up in the morning and not be sad” made me want to hug Alex so much. Oh, Alex.
• “Dude, you need to stop getting so personally invested in the recruits. It never ends well for you. Also it’s getting kind of creepy.” – Birkoff LOL. I loved that.
• Nikita creating a new identity for Alex while working to get her out of Division, Alex herself stating at the end that she wants out, Amanda recommending Alex be cancelled plus Michael finding out the truth about them leads me to wonder if we’re going to see Alex joining Nikita on the outside and Michael becoming their mole? That’s a pretty huge change and really early in the show but I buy that TPTB would go there. I would definitely have thought it would be far too soon into the series for Michael to learn the truth but they went there. I see no way for Nikita to get out of this with Alex’s cover intact without Michael implicitly on their side.
I would love for Alex to join Nikita on the outside because it would give us a lot more Nikita/Alex scenes and them kicking butt together but then it cuts Alex off from the rest of the cast and I’m enjoying Alex as a mole at Division. It just wouldn’t be the same with Michael. Perhaps they feel Nikita is too cut off from anyone else so they’re sending Alex to even things out? But then they’re both the main lead focuses (with Michael taking third) so it would actually make things more uneven if they did that. Now if Jaden was given more focus and made the new mole that could be very interesting. If they did go this route they could either have Nikita help Alex disappear from Division and join Nikita which would put Alex on their radar (and Michael, as well, since he was particularly close to two agents that went AWOL) or they could have Percy order her to be cancelled, Nikita and Michael save her and she joins Nikita secretly (until the moment where she is revealed to be alive to everyone’s shock). Or maybe Alex will stay as the mole and just have Michael backing her up even more than he already has?
• Clearly what’s not going to happen is Michael either turning Alex in or killing Nikita. Nikita’s goodbye to Alex was strange enough, and Alex did look very worried, that I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t immediately leave her apartment to go to Nikita’s loft to find out what’s wrong. I'd love that. I really want a Nikita/Alex/Michael confrontation scene.
• I really liked the final scene – Nikita’s expression, Michael sitting there with the big gun – I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
Chuck 4x16 ‘Chuck Versus the Masquerade’
The theme of this episode seemed to be about growing up and moving on from a comfortable life onto something new. It almost feels like the show is preparing itself for its series finale. I wonder if it’s been cancelled?
• It was great to see Lauren Cohen and so soon after TVD. Lauren was looking amazing. I prefer this hairstyle much more than what she had when she was Rose.
• I love the idea of Vivian being unknowingly raised and groomed to be Alexei’s successor and that she's a lot more competent/knowledgeable than she realises. That completely hits a kink for me (not a sexy kink but I don’t know what else to call it).
• I loved Vivian taking out Boris especially as it follows him underestimating her and calling her a ‘weak, indecisive little girl’.
• I liked the Chuck/Vivian bonding. I read a spoiler that Vivian has some kind of connection to Chuck and I kind of like the idea of her being his half-sister except that it just does not work from what we’ve gotten of the story thus far. Mary’s main attribute is her love of her children and if she had a daughter with Volkoff she’d have her loved just as much. Plus the ages are too wrong, and what we’ve seen of the Mary/Volkoff relationship doesn’t support them having a child together. I love the idea in an AU fic sort of way though.
• I wonder if that light we saw at the end was an Intersect and that they’re connected by that? But then how the hell did Alexei get an Intersect and why wouldn’t he have used it before?
• I liked Casey’s storyline because sometimes it really does seem as if he has nothing to do except occasionally shoot at people. Him becoming a part of a new team/project could be interest – as long as in the end he’s back with his real team in the end.
• I really liked that Casey was completely unwilling to leave Burbank (aw!) and when Sarah was down he refused to leave her. I want more partner stuff between them.
• Casey’s look when Morgan called Beckman ‘GB’ made me giggle. Why was Morgan even at Castle instead of staying in the newly empty house with his girlfriend? Is he really an agent at the CIA?
