Barbie Movie

+ The whole aesthetic was spot on. I loved the look of it, I loved the clothes, the dollhouses, the way the dolls work, the music. It was great. The whole opening part with Barbie living her Barbie life was perfect.
+ Margot Robbie was perfectly cast as Barbie. I loved her.
+ I was a skeptical about Ryan Gosling as Ken based on the pictures/trailer but I thought he was great. Very funny. Also I ended up feeling rather sorry for him even despite what he did and I liked where he ended up.
+ I loved Barbie's first meeting with Weird Barbie.
+ I liked Gloria. I loved her bonding with Barbie and all their interactions. Sasha was fine. I wish more time had actually been spent with them. I did love the final scene between them and Barbie, and how they basically adopted her after she becomes human.
+ I liked where the movie ended in Barbieland with things not returning to the status quo with the Kens (which was genuinely terrible for them) but also not suddenly perfectly equal either. I loved the jab about how it would end up just as equal as the real world.
+ I really appreciate the Barbie and Ken didn't get together at the end. She didn't feel the same way about him, and the movie not having her change her mind, or discover she was wrong, was great.
+ I also really liked that we didn't have Barbie telling Ken what he needed to do next but rather encouraging to figure out for himself who he is. At the very least I hope he fully embraces his inner horse girl and gets the pet horse he deserves.
+ The montage of Ken discovering patriarchy was infuriating and funny. I loved the doctor scene as much in movie as I did from the trailer.
+ I enjoyed the Mattel board and their incompetence a lot. Their chase of Barbie was really funny, as was the roller blades/trip to Barbieland.
+ I liked Allan. I kind of wanted to pat him on the head every time he showed up.
+ Depression Barbie is perfect.
+ I wish we'd seen more of a specific bond/friendship between Barbie and one of the other Barbies.
+ Barbie falling into despair and going plank stiff was a great detail.
