A Korean Odyssey Episode 10
Feb. 8th, 2024 09:20 amHonestly this episode left me really confused about the logistics/plot stuff.
+ There's the long-standing if Seon-mi's abilities are tied into her being Samjang then was she always Samjang, or she was made Samjang as punishment for freeing Oh-rong but then her ability to spirits is something inherent not a part of being Samjang. Seriously, it can only be one! I feel like either I'm missing something or this just does not make sense.
+ Also I was confused about the Bookseller taking 'young Seon-mi' situation. Because with the children she takes their souls, leaving their bodies dead. But with Seon-mi she was alive and apparently completely fine? No affects at all minus ability to see ghosts. Not even any emotional affects. Taking young Seon-mi only meant losing her abilities, her being Samjang and her Deal with Oh-rong. Which... why? Why would it work like that?
+ Can Oh-rong really just ignore the Deal like that? Did he just intimidate and then bluff the bookseller into thinking he could, or was the Deal placed in the book with Samjang's powers, or can he ignore it? I can't imagine it could be the latter. The first option seems like the most likely one and is also very Oh-rong.
+ Seon-mi and Oh-rong are so bad at communicating, holy cow. I have to admit that I've hit a limit with my patience/interest in it this episode. Seon-mi reacting to Oh-rong obviously being jealous by running after him only for her to swerve when she actually finds him into a cool goodbye made me want to bang my head on a desk. Really? Annoying.
+ I was genuinely surprised that at no point in time, especially during the goodbye, that Seon-mi didn't off to try and take the Geumganggo off Oh-rong.
+ I do really like that Seon-mi's choice to take back being Samjang was mainly about saving Bu-ja and the kids rather then her romantic situation.
+ I loved Bu-ja controlling herself enough to not kill Seon-mi, and Ma-wang opening the door to find Seon-mi cradling her close. I really wish the show had spent more time on their relationship. Just show them hanging out, doing things together, Seon-mi involved even the littlest bit in her life!
+ I actually wish that this 'normal' Seon-mi situation had played out longer.
+ Ma-wang getting so emotionally moved by Oh-rong choosing Seon-mi's happiness over his own, of course that would work on him. It was a lovely scene all around. So of course it was also all a scheme on Oh-rong's part to manipulate Ma-wang into letting him go without a fuss.
+ Kang Dae-sung is so dumb. Dude. She collapsed in a public space, in a way that literally had nothing to do with you, why the hell would you drag her off to a stairwell and call in a minion to dispose of the body??
+ The Jade prince really has attached himself to PK. It was played as a joke in the beginning but now it's just there.
+ The bookseller was an evil spirit and Oh-rong wasn't wrong that she stole those kids' future and she should have helped them if she wanted to truly save them, but Winter Fairy was also right that the true evil in this situation were the neglectful/abusive adults not the bookseller. I also sympathise with her; she did get those kids out of terrible situations and into a place where they were safe and happy (regardless if that equalled death) and she was sincere that they could leave if they wanted. With the reincarnation issue, well there's no time limit on it so whenever they were released they could reincarnate.
+ I liked Winter Fairy's kindness in staying with the little ghost girl for so long because he didn't want her to be alone, and Han-joo's kindness towards her brother and assuring him that he will help him.
