Into the Night Season 1
Mar. 1st, 2024 09:57 pmI ended up marathoning through and watched it in a day. Totally didn't mean to but it just flew by. I liked it obviously.
+ It did a really good job with the tension of the whole story. I wanted to keep watching to see what happened next. There were definitely times when it felt like they were going overboard but overall it worked for me. The concept is great.
+ Sylvie, Ayaz and Laura were my favourites. I liked Jakub, Horst and Osman too.
+ Terezio was aggressive and aggravating but he wasn't wrong in wanting things to be more democratic and for everyone to have not only a voice in their fate but also to be told everything that is happening.
+ I like how over the course of the show they start to work together better and better as a group.
+ The whole Gabrielle situation was so sad. Contrary to what I wrote above I actually do get why everyone wasn't filled in about the truth about the soldiers. Knowledge changes how you act. And yet if she'd known from the start she might have survived. Or she might have given the whole thing away and things could have gone worse.
Still poor Gabrielle. It was a really confusing situation to find yourself in and it was only seconds of non-reacting to lead to her death. Her managing to send a message telling them she understood and didn't blame them was sad and stand-up and lovely of her.
I do wish that it had been someone other than Jakub with them. She knows Jakub. If it had been Ayaz or Ric who she didn't know it would have made more sense to me for her to pull away and not believe them. But that said it was only seconds so...
+ There's certainly a nice symmetry with the show starting because Terezio was running from death to him meeting that death in the final episode. That it's his own aggressive actions that led to his death felt appropriate.
+ I don't know how I feel about Sylvie locking Terezio to the post and leaving him. Yes, I wouldn't trust him either and she had ample reason not to. But she also could have gotten in the jeep once they located where they needed to be and gone back but she didn't even consider it. I wonder if we'll get next season her dealing with that?
+ I have to call Sylvia about her disingenuous 'he's not here?' cause she locked him to the post and he clearly wasn't with the second group so obviously she has to know he's dead.
+ There was a lot more death happening then I was expecting. On the plane specifically.
+ I found myself thinking multiple time 'yeesh men are a lot" or "they'd be better off without the men" but really that's unfair because a lot of the guys were great/normal (Mathias, Horst, Osman, Jakub mostly, even Ayaz) with several troublemakers.
+ I was a little impressed too with Rik confessing the truth to Ayaz and apologizing. He really didn't need to and it could only look bad for him.
+ Them letting Ayaz, aka guy with a very recent head wound, drive the second vehicle was really dumb and unnecessary. There are a lot of other people who could do it, frankly excepting Dominik and Mathieu, literally anyone else would be better.
