iaria1x08 'O! Say, Can You Sew?'
- I liked Kenley’s dress the best, it was really cute, but Mondo’s was nice as well so I’m fine with him winning.
- I really disagreed however with the judges sending Mila home instead of Jerell.
Mila’s dress was... interesting and well made. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it or think it was disturbing. It was different and weird but also kind of neat. She was criticised about the colours and how it made Isaac think of Russia/communism but... it matched the flag? Sure it wasn’t ‘tribal’ or whatever and thus presumably didn’t match the culture (I know nothing about Papua New Guinea so, hey, maybe it does) but it was completely in line with the challenge. The flag is half black/half red with a yellow symbol. That’s basically what she gave them – black/red with a bit of yellow. Geez. This annoys me and I don’t even really like the dress.
Meanwhile Jerell’s dress was just a big mess. It was costumey and looked badly made and just bleh. I do not understand how the hell he stayed in with that hideous dress.
1x09 'When I Get My Dress In Lights'
- Kenley and Austin had my favourite looks and Michael and Jerell were in the bottom which leaves Mondo in the middle.
- Austin’s look was so – fantasy and pretty. I loved the shape of it and how it you get that piece going from the dress in a curve and then becoming the headpiece. It was really lovely.
- Kenley’s look was very cool. I loved the plaid skirt she made, the plaid design is excellent, and the jacket is really neat. It just all worked perfectly together.
- I agreed with Jerell being out. I didn’t really like his finished look, and while some of the parts of it were neat, compared to the others it was the worst.
1x10 'Let's Get Down to Business'
I was so nervous going into this elimination.
- Austin: It’s pretty. I love the colour. I like how the skirt moves. The belt may be optional but I’m not a fan of the look without it. I’m not sure about the neckline/detail, it’s hard to get a close look, but it’s leaving me rather meh.
- Michael: It’s okay. The fabric grew on me the more I looked at it. I liked it even more up close. The dress itself really doesn’t seem like something you’d wear every day. It’s more of a ‘vacation in a hot place’ type dress. I like the sleeves a lot. The length of the dress seems too long. I was afraid the model would trip. I don’t see why he made it so long.
- Mondo: Oh dear. I do like the neckline and how the bottom fabric layer is attached to the rest of the dress, with the ruffle, which is very cute. I really dislike the colour mixture. If he’d stuck with the purple/pinks at the top it might have worked but with the neon green and black/white it doesn’t. Or at least not for me. It’s just really not to my taste.
- Kenley: It’s cute. Very simple though. I think the sleeves are pretty. The pattern is nice. I like how it moves. Of all the dresses the shape of this one is the one I like best but it doesn’t wow me. Mondo was also right about the seams not matching. That bothered me.
- Once again I am completely out of sync with the judges. I couldn’t believe that Mondo won. I just... really? And then Kenley was out? Seriously? Ugh. Now I’m all irritated.
