Episode 7

• Mu Kyul explaining out loud his feelings for her as “Mae Ri feels like family now. Whenever I look at Mae Ri I find myself thinking this is what a family is supposed to feel like.” really worked for me. And it made me go aww a lot. His jealousy, and the confusion and anger over it, was all over this episode so it wasn’t a surprise for him to once again to say he wanted to end their agreement (though it was a surprise when the truth actually came out).

“I can no longer tell whether I feel this way because I want to win or because I like you; or whether this marriage is fake or real.” – I really liked that because those are really good reasons for wanting it to end. The latter part about the lines of pretend and real blurring makes sense and it's something we’ve already seen happening. I like also that he wants to end it because he doesn’t know if the base of his feelings is his competitiveness or true like for her. That hit me because well, she’s his family now, family the way it should be, and it would be wrong to use her in a game of one-upmanship with Jung In and thus hurt her in the process. Just as things played out at the start of the episode when he got into a competitive fight with Jung In and Mae Ri was hurt.

• I really liked seeing Mae Ri and Jung In actually bonding, on both sides. I like that she now likes him, is even starting to care about him, and in turn he’s been totally taken in by how sweet and caring she is. I loved their first kiss. The way that Jung In dropped the umbrella, held Mae Ri’s head in his hands and kissed her really worked for me. I’m going to have to give Jung In the gold medal in ‘first kisses’. Sorry Mu Kyul but everything about it was so much better than yours. The build-up with Mae Ri giving him the gift of socks to keep him warm and the nightmares away, and the way that he’s so clearly moved by it, and then afterwards, after the punch and the other two leaving he just stands there lost in his own head. He was just that affected by the kiss and presumably the rush of feelings it caused.

• As for the third half of the triangle/ménage – it was mostly bristling and anger and a surprising amount of punching.

• I was confused with how exactly Mae Ri leaving the office would make it easier between her husbands? That doesn’t make much sense to me. I mean she’s still ‘married’ to both of them and they’re still rivals. Nothing has really changed. I guess – having her not there would prevent them from using her to get at each other? Such as Mu Kyul did when he arrived in the morning? God, they’re so childish.

• I wasn’t sure which way her dad and So Young’s meeting would go but I’m kind of pleased it was hate within the first three minutes. I warmed up a bit to So Young – even though she is a self-absorbed, selfish, immature, irresponsible, rash fluff-head who keeps letting down her son – after she defended Mu Kyul and did it by biting Mae Ri’s dad I find her a lot more likable. They should make it a running theme.

• I am not warming up to Mae Ri’s dad, on the other hand. He is just so infuriating. I so, so want the next episode to start with Mae Ri telling him off, not letting him guilt her the way he has every other instance, and for her to lay down the law (i.e. he backs the fuck off or she sends him to jail). Alas I know it’s not going to happen which just makes me angrier.
