I thought it was fantastic. I enjoyed it.

The casting was really good. David Corenswet made both a good Clark Kent and a good Superman. I love how he towered above everyone. I though Nicholas Hoult was an excellent Luthor. I think he's probably my second favourite version after Smallville's Lex Luthor. I liked Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane and Edi Gathegi was terrific as Mister Terrific. And the supporting cast was good.

I loved what they did with the world-building for this universe. Meta-humans having been a part of the world for over 300 years gives it a different feel. The casualty with which everyone treated the monster fights only emphasised it. This is their reality. So you see them just standing there in the battle and shake your head but also for this universe this is literally an every week occurrence and the world has likely lived with this stuff for centuries.

The theme of hope and of doing the right thing, of not standing back when people are in danger and need help was great, and very Superman, and also pretty timely.

I loved Krypto. He was adorable. I enjoyed Clark's interactions with him. The reveal that he was actually more Supergirl's dog worked for me considering how little control Superman had over him. I like that he played an essential role in Superman's plan to beat Luthor, and he did it by playing. Clark's worry for Krypto and his focus on finding him after the Fortress attack was really sweet, and I loved that it was his main reason for turning himself in.

Mister Terrific isn't a character I have any pre-knowledge of but he was awesome. I loved that he chose to help Lois help Superman even though the others didn't want to get involved. I loved him kicking ass. I loved his long-suffering annoyance at everyone. I loved him saving the day at the end by closing the rift. I enjoyed his relationship with Superman.

I absolutely saw the end coming with Superman's parents and him watching home videos while healing but it still made me aww. He always took the message from his birth parents' as inspiration and a basis for who he was as Superman, but it's always been clear (as it always is) that it's the Kent parents and the family they created with him that deserve that placement.

That said Superman claiming his humanity, naming himself human - eh, I don't know. Yes he is who he is because of his human parents. He was raised human. I think I'm just very anti human exceptionalism in sci-fi/fantasy that it immediately rubbed me wrong.

I'm also not sure how I feel about the reveal that Jor-el and Lara did send him to conquer Earth. I'm going to need to sit on that one a bit. Honestly though I feel like there's something off, and that possibly regardless of what the techs say the message was messed with in some way.

I loved Clark's working relationship with the Justice Gang. He works alone but also he can and does work with others, and he has a fair relationship with them even if they disagree with methods. I loved that at the end Superman found himself having to make a choice - and instead he relied on his allies to go in in his stead to help, and they did.

I wasn't sold on this Martha and Jonathan but they ended up growing on me. I loved them after Lois brought an injured Clark home. I loved Jonathan's talk with Clark.

I loved Lois refusing to accept Superman disappearing, her tracking what happened, getting allies and then going in to save him. She didn't physically contribute but she's a reporter not a superhero, and she got the help she could get where it needed to be.

I also like that it was Lois's reporting (+ the Daily planet team) - her digging into the Luthor/Boravia situation, her realising the truth behind the selfies - that lead to Luthor's downfall.

I do wish that the movie had shown more everyday meta-humans living their lives and/or trying to help in various situations. It didn't make sense to me that there wouldn't be any meta-humans involved in the war, for instance. Why wouldn't Boravia or Jarhanpur have metahumans? And if they didn't why wouldn't they be on the front line?

I loved Clark opening up to Lois at his lowest - while in the background the Justice Gang fought an colourful inter-dimensional being. Very pretty, but also further emphasising really well how much meta-humans/creature attacks are just a part of life in this universe.

Lois interviewing Clark scene was great. I love that she didn't go easy on him. I love that she didn't let up but she also gave him pointers and tried to direct him when he went off track.

I loved Superman saving the squirrel. It was delightful. And also the dog. I loved that Clark was just as protective of animals. And how when people were evacuating Metropolis they were specifically shown taking their pets with them. And then of course there was Superman's desperation over Krypto's disappearance. Oh and also I like that Superman wanted to save the kaiju creature and take him to a zoo or something. That's sweet. All life matters to Superman and that's exactly how it should be.

I enjoyed Luthor's little support gang. Their loyalty, their intelligence, how many of them there were and how involved in his schemes they were. I don't know that I've seen it done quite like this before and I loved it.

Luthor'd literal monkeys typing away spreading hate online was great. It made me laugh.

I wasn't a fan of Luthor having a seemingly dumb blonde girlfriend and what they were doing with Eve until it was revealed that she had secretly been taking selfies with incriminating evidence. I loved that. Great job! Still could have done with less of playing up the whole dumb blonde thing.

I am so glad Eve is away from Luthor but while Jimmy seems great the funniness of his reluctance to even talk to her is less funny when you see it from her side. She deserves better then someone who can barely tolerate her. Yeah he had that bit of softness in his expression at the very end but meh.

I loved Superman's robots. They were sweet and added some nice levity.

One of my favourite moments was Lex's extreme petty childishness of knocking the cup of pens to the floor a second time. I found it hilarious honestly. Ridiculous. Lex Luthor is so so petty the entire movie and I love it.

Lois and her sugar, and Jimmy's reaction was great.

I loved Clark picking Lois up and her clinging to him as they made out on her kitchen counter.

I liked the little sideplot-ish with Malik. Him rushing into the crater to help Superman up and out was so lovely. His bravery when held captive by Lex - even telling Superman not to give Lex the information he wanted while a gun was held to his head was great. And then at the end Clark writing an article about him and how he was a hero was lovely and very Clark Kent.

The Engineer had a cool power and I liked what we saw of her but also - what exactly was her motive for being so gungho to kill Superman? We don't really know anything about her. And then while she survives in the end (I'm glad) she also just disappears after her big fight with Superman.

When Superman flew into the air with all the nanites and then flew back down I thought he was going to use the fire of reentry to burn them away but then no fire? And he just used the landing to knock out The Engineer and thus forced her to lose control of the nanites? idk. That part had me a little 'eh?' I also considered when Mister Terrific woke that his own nanites in Superman might not play a part but nope.

I wish we'd seen more reactions from the people trapped in the pocket universe prison. Superman is a bit of a big deal and him suddenly showing up in there should have gotten more of a reaction then it did.

A part of me wondered if we were going to see Superman having to team up with Luthor in order to stop the rift.
