Mother

+ Cassie choosing to sacrifice herself and her son to save the world but also to save her son from becoming the Witness was great.

+ This episode brought up something 2x13 got me thinking about again but with new context of who The Witness was I found even more confusing: why the difference in how Cole and Cassie are viewed. After the reveal that they were his parents it became especially confusing. Cole has always been viewed by the 12 Monkeys with a sort of almost reverence. It's always been clear that he was very important. But while Cassie was necessary she wasn't viewed near the same. Why? She's his mother!

But - "Live in your son's admiration instead of his scorn for this selfish act." Is it down to this? Witness grows up knowing his mother tried to kill him before he was born and resented her for it (was raised to scorn her)? And so he doesn't even bother to tell his followers in the past who she is. But (again) we have Tall Man stating - "Despite the Father's attempt to undo him" - so if he tried the same crime as Cassie why does the Witness seem to view him so differently? Magdalena does say "your son will always know you chose death over him" so I'm guessing despite all their assurances that they didn't create the Witness there has to be an element of them poisoning him against her, in a way that was never done with Cole?

+ Future!Magdalena burning herself up after going to the past to change things - WTF! Why was that even necessary considering her younger self changing things should have led to her disappearing anyway!

+ I do enjoy that we are getting some new technology. Curious about who created these new portable time/splinter machines.

+ I also liked seeing future!Cole and having Cole interact with himself.

+ I appreciate that while Cole was very focused on Cassie he wasn't all about her. It was still important to him to rescue Ramse and Jennifer (who he still thought were in Titan) too.

+ I loved the way Katarina gently cupped Cole's cheek. I like that she did give in but also sent Hannah to watch over him ("be his guardian, protect him"), and with a weapon to force him back if needed. I love how now Katarina's concern for Cole is so much about Cole not the mission. She cares about him.

+ Hannah really surprised me because she seemed a lot more confident, aggressive, and resolute then she was last season. It seems she's stepped up into a command role in the Daughters which is interesting to see, and after 2x13 I buy, and I'm curious to see where it goes. However her demanding "you'll do as I say" made me blink because where did that come from?? Not only couldn't I see her saying anything like before, it indicates a level of assumed authority that is new. Also, wow that was the wrong way to approach Cole lol.

+ I did not like Hannah slapping Cole. That shit was completely out of line. Honestly I don't even think she had a valid reason to even be mad at him. If they were closer then okay anger at him putting himself at risk but as is she seemed mad about the fight and him sending her back? Which she started!

+ I hope that Hannah ends up Cole's travel partner for awhile because I want to see more of them working together. And I like the idea of her being his guardian/protector in a longer term/more formalised way. Plus I want to see Hannah and young!Jennifer interact more.

+ Katarina's "Don't be a little shit." to Hannah made me laugh because it was so unexpected. Between that and Hannah's hesitation and switch from Mother to Jennifer it seems like there's been some change in their relationship. There's a new ease between them which is nice to see. Also clearly she has been spending too much time with Katarina because after she saw Cole had sent her back she got out "You little..." before splintering. Like mother, like daughter.

+ I liked getting a look inside Jennifer's head. Her noping out of her terror at reality in the trench and making it a fun musical fantasy instead was fun, and funny.

+ Cassie looked amazing. That colour really suits her and the dress itself was pretty.
