Ouroboros

Wonderful episode.

In particular Cole and Katarina being faced with two people they have lost as well as the beginning of their journey was wonderful to watch. I was happy that both got some sort of closure.

+ It was so lovely to see Ramse again. I hadn't realised how much I'd missed him.

+ Cole/Ramse was bittersweet and lovely. Cole has been hurting for so long now but he hasn't been allowed the chance to really grieve and deal with his guilt. I love that he finally got that opportunity with Ramse himself. And not just Ramse, but Ramse back in the beginning who wasn't grieving and angry himself, Ramse who was still his brother without any betrayal behind him. Cole's face when he saw Ramse and himself as they were in the beginning, before everything, ouch. It hurt him. I'm glad that he got to talk to him. I'm glad he got to see again Ramse's love for him and determination to do what was necessary to save him. I liked that Cole confessed his struggle to forgive himself and Ramse telling him that "only the dead can forgive. you have to give them a reason to" I hope this means that we'll get Ramse back before the end so he can forgive Cole himself. Even just Ramse saying "you're going to be okay" probably helped Cole so much.

+ Katarina/Marcus never got the screentime I wanted but they had a couple scenes in this I loved. Seeing their past versions interacting in private with Jones actually sharing her nerves with him and him reassuring her "Because you are a soldier about to become a general" and his smile when she strides off was nice. I liked his "my job is to keep you safe" and then his bashfulness when Katarina took the opportunity to tell him "I am grateful for everything you've done, for everything you will do". I like the idea that he has gone forward these last years having this moment in his head. Despite her distance and harshness he knew that his work wasn't unseen. I can't help but wonder what else she might have said to her Marcus.

+ Cole/Katarina were fabulous. "You and I started this together. We're going to finish it together." ♥ Of course then we get that last (lovely) scene between them with her making him promise to see it to the end and him doing so which has me all kinds of worried that she's not actually going to make it until the end. I want them to finish this together as partners! I loved that he noticed the tremor and worried for her, and him covering her hand with his.

+ Katarina & Jones was a fabulous scene. I loved it. I loved her bouncing ideas off herself, talking through what happened without specifics. I loved Jones knocking Katarina out of her spiral of despair with some tough love and telling Katarina to take some of her hope, if she lost her own. I loved Jones's "Trust yourself. Go, fix it.". I loved Jones demanding to know how she got the tethers working the first time (answer apparently: she asked herself, an ouroboros eating it's tether tail!) All of it was great. Though I think my favourite exchange was:

I'm about to make your life very difficult.
You always have.

+ I loved Katarina pep-talking herself with "Remember you are a real bitch" LOL.

+ I liked the reveal that they had always been here in the shadows during the first mission. That they were always the cause of the lesser power.

+ The conflict between Cole and Cassie, over continuing the mission or going for revenge, in trying something new or returning to kill in the past as the answer isn't unexpected I guess. Cassie asking Cole to come with her and after he tells her "not this time" her crying and pleading 'please' was painful. Poor Cassie. But in this case I am 100% on Cole's side. Revenge isn't the answer. Going into the past to kill a specific person isn't the answer. It's only doing exactly what Cassie was complaining about - doing the same thing over and over.

+ That moment of Cassie watching younger Cole watch her tv interview was a nice little moment but what was up with tv!Cassie looking straight and saying "Cassie. The circle, the loop. Is just a second chance." Cassie ends up brushing it off but that was weird as hell.

+ I loved imaginary!Jennifer telling Jennifer "You've got you". Jennifer at the end did something gutsy as hell. She did something that really only she would do, but in doing it she was also literally putting her life in the hands of her friends and trusting that they would save her. And then they did! I loved it. I will however give her some grief for dropping her bag and 'the weapon'. Yeesh, Jennifer that is what you spent years working towards!

+ We haven't had much of the machine/Time as an entity talk with Jennifer gone but I loved Katarina defending the machine against being called a piece of shit, and her calling it "beautiful" and also "her".

+ When they watched Cole and Ramse walk away a part of me wanted Cole to just go out there and talk to them. Fuck paradoxes, see what happens. And then Katarina did it, ♥
